Police prepared for January 6th attack-- they prepared for Anti-Trump protestors

This is for topical issues effecting our fair world... you can quit snickering anytime. One thing I have wondered about for the years about cops and 'social heirarchy' is the location of the cops and where the cops themselves came from.
It's almost universal that city cops in the US do not live in the cities where they work. The reason why a lot of cops act like an occupying Army is that in many respects they are.
In what way do cops act like a occupying Army? Because I know what a occupying army looks like.
Do you mean current cops in the context of this thread or historically?

Regardless it's probably a good idea to avoid gate keeping oppression.
Gate keeping. Holy fuck.

I know what an occupying army looks like because I was part of one! I mean holy shit! Anyone here getting their car searched every time they over a bridge? Do you see fully dressed cops with M16s or equivalent along with body armor, helmets? Do you see tanks and armored vehicles riding down your street? Do you hear and see military drones and planes loaded to bomb your car? Do you have snipers up in buildings ready to kill you? Do you have snipers with 20mm rounds ready to destroy your engine at the check point?

And I mean all the time, every day, every hour.

Jesus Christ. Maybe DragonBall Fan was right.
Wow. Did you even pay attention to anything else I said or just saw the word gatekeeping and went off?

And again where/when is the "here" you are you talking about? Frankly I don't care about the lack of universal martial law when there are enforcers (apparently of law but historically of colonialism, occupation/assimilation and conquest) in my developed country who have a history of murder to the point we have a cute nickname for the practice. Police are in many respects an occupying force.
Every single word I said still stands.
I got nothing to say here.

Really? Cause your words seem to say that only a modern military undertaking full martial law is a valid occupying force. If you don't want to look into the history of other occupations fine, it's not exactly the nicest of subject matter but that doesn't mean they didn't happen or can't be mentioned.

I live in NJ, I am five minutes away from Trenton. I got a literally road that seperate the ghetto from the nicer parts of Ewing and Trenton. I go to Philadelphia every single day. You know what I see? Not an occupying force. Not even the slightest. Calling it an occupying force implies they are doing something that even slightly suggests its similar to a military one.

I don't see it and I don't see how anyone can see it as one.

I did ask you where and when you were referring to but thank you for the answers. Regardless the use of cops as an occupying and/or colonist force is well documented as are occupations that are not what you described nor is what you described solely what makes up an occupying army.

And while I don't know enough about the history to go much further but at the very least Philadelphia seems to be an interesting topic when it comes to military action and the threat of force when it comes to police.

I don't give a flying fuck if you asked me where I am from. I don't need your permission. My point still stands.

And you haven't answered my question. How about you do that first.

I don't care where you're from, I care about which places you are talking about and when.

To answer your questions do you want me to copy paste the appropriate dictionary definition of occupy and force or do you want the numerous and well documented examples of cops being used as such?

As I said it goes hand in hand with colonialism, off the top of my head my own countries federal police was made for that purpose and police continuing their abuses of first nations are hardly a thing of the distant past. For a less American-centric example I believe the Philippines is a well known example of police occupation. (though muddied by the US claiming it as a prize while it was fighting for independence/rights)

You know it wouldn't kill you to link an article or site a source.

What do you know of what can "kill" me? (kill in this case is a panic attack)

Sorry about that, but colonization is well-documented enough for me to be comfortable talking about it.

I still haven't begun to absorb the idea of the possibility that the closest acting professional body to the president, chosen directly by the president, could somehow keep the president in power in our system of checks and balances.

Chris Christie has said that Trump surrounded himself with snake oil salesmen (which is apparent) who fed him dainty institutional information regarding Pence's authority, and I feel that acting on that would be a new low for Trump's intelligence, all of which I mostly have trouble comprehending.
..What mirror universe?
