Re: Discussing a The Princess Bride Remake
It was a terrible, terrible idea by wildly self-indulgent filmmakers, and each time it failed. Attempts to capitalize (in the sense of capital, in the sense of money) on a daring and visionary exploration by aping it (pun not intended).
It's like making a low-quality copy of a famous painting and getting people to look at it by exploiting the masterpiece's reputation. Except with movies instead of paints.

Fair enough.

Honestly? It was OK to remake King Kong. Especially with the at the time the latest effects.Nealithi wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 9:13 pmWas it alright to remake King Kong?Frustration wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 8:55 pm "Once again, what makes a remake is open for debate."

I suppose you could add Kong Skull Island though to the list. It has z vaguely similar story, just no climbing of skyscrapers or getting killed in the end.
I got nothing to say here.
