Sure, Jan. That's why you're anti-mask. We know you've always cared deeply about the environment.

The correct way to use a mask is to DISINFECT your hands prior to picking it up, use it ONCE, and then DISCARD it either in the bin in the case of those cheap blue masks or back in the laundry in the case of the fabric ones. The amount of people who keep a grubby mask in their pocket or touch a surface before picking up their mask seems to count in my eyes to ''almost everyone.''

It's possible to make a case that the numbers are going up because of people touching their masks, but I think society is somewhat content with preventing yourself from being able to breath unto other people in spite of the probability that you are touching your mask and not sterilizing your hands. Covid is something the elitist scientific community refer to as an airborn virus.

I highly doubt the numbers are going up because they are not using the mask the right way.

More likely that all precautions are gone, no one cares, and not being vaccinated.
I got nothing to say here.

Yeah I would like to see the figure of 2 billion came from. That doesn't seem right.

From what I understand, your basic blue masks are biodegradable anyway.

Plus we don't know if that's all covid masks or from earlier too.

Maybe they took a poll. Asked a bunch of people to check the box if they've "thrown their mask into the ocean." and enough people checked it and statistical science came back with 2 billion.

I was always amuses by people saying they couldn't breathe in the masks for hours. And seeing some memes saying that masks cut off oxygen. But yet we got surgeons using them hours on end to do very delicate work on a human body without complaint.

Though I suspect those masks are burned along with everything else that comes out of a hospital.

No, no they really aren't. As a minimum-wage 'essential' (read: expendable) worker, I've spent around 40 hours a week in a KN95 for the past 18ish months. So I can say definitively that anyone who claims to find them so horribly unbearable, is just being a massive fucking pussy. And believe me, I've met plenty of such people in that time.
Pretty sure I dislike this argument as you are saying all people should be the same and have the exact same thresholds for everything. Followed by an insult that says anyone that does not live up to that standard is a woman.

But just so you know where I stand on this. I despise these masks. They barely cut things back to manageable levels. (I have hay fever. So cut grass puts me in sneezing fits. My mother has asthma so bad perfume chokes her. And we can clearly smell both through the masks.) But they do restrict breathing to the point that I go to the Home Depot for something I need to gasp in my car for a minute after I take off the mask so I can drive. And all that is beside the point that no one including me can fit the bloody things to not fog my glasses. Thank God I do not have to wear the thing while driving.
But if I am to be around people I wear the mask as required. You don't have to like it, you just have to do it.
Have you tried those "3D" masks? They are supposed to be better re glasses fogging. Also I've heard that breathing through your nose helps with the restriction.
I have not, but at your suggestion I have ordered some and shall try them. Thank you.

Can't breathe would be serious. Do people not understand the difference between difficulty and inability?

Honestly I call bullshit on the whole 'can't breathe' thing these anti maskers say. Sure there are people hardcof breathing and a mask doesn't help. Sure these masks does create a bit of anxiety with those wearing it.

But what you cannot tell me is that these masks are harmful to the whole community.

For many who don't want to wear one for whatever reason, it's just an excuse.
I got nothing to say here.
