No they're not. They are fighting with the people who make this fictional show. Y'know, like leftists do whenever they try and cancel a fictional show that doesn't have enough non-white people in it.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 12:15 amCentrists be like "Both sides are silly" like bro one side is fighting with Big Bird right now

Yeah... that only happens in far right fantasies. It's not a real thing in meatspace.clearspira wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 6:32 pmNo they're not. I think it is something that is attempted in meatspace. There are some damn stupid people out there.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 9:37 pmYeah... that only happens in far right fantasies. One of the favourites I heard about was a woman laying into these two girls that they should not wear kimonos as it was cultural appropriation. The girls were amused, first they were yukata not kimonos. And second they were from Japan so there was no way they were stealing Japanese culture. Some people latch onto these causes to make themselves feel special or something. That yelling 'cultural appropriation' or 'diversity' gives them clout somehow.
They exist. How potent these attempts are? No clue.

There's a difference between a few idiots being clueless and the massive cultural censorship movement being suggested. Certainly not anything at the ubiquitous mainstream level the Big Bird thing is on the right ATM.Nealithi wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 9:50 pmI think it is something that is attempted in meatspace. I mostly agree. I think the issue is the news puts the microphone in the face of the loudest and dumbest for either side just to stir muck. And if you keep the magnifying glass on long enough the issue looks bigger than it really is.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 10:13 pm There's a difference between a few idiots being clueless and the massive cultural censorship movement being suggested. The people being stupid in either direct are exasperating. What is frightening is when a politician or corporation in control of something liked parrots the idiots because they seem a big deal.

A politician like Senator Ted Cruz? He is the main one pushing it.Nealithi wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 2:00 amI mostly agree. Not Tucker Carlson for this one, oddly enough. He usually jumps on these.

When have they done this? Only one comes to mind is Roseanne and that was the studio that did that. It happened so fast that there was no time for a cancel movement to build up. Not to mention Roseanne herself was a nightmare in the original running of the show that the revival definitely had some stipulations in her conduct.clearspira wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 6:32 pmNo they're not. Leftists tend to cancel individuals. Conservatives tend to cancel shows or companies. Before the word 'cancel' happened, it was most likely for conservatives to be the ones who boycott or try to get shows canceled. One Million Moms is an example. Lots of pearl clutching.
I got nothing to say here.

How deep has to be your head up your ass to get offended over this?
Boo hoo, a fictional character got fictionally vaccinated. Clearly that's how Obama will get a third term.

It's propaganda. That damned leftist media forcing it on all of us! And the kids! Won't someone talk about those poor kids?
One shot of that 5G Bill Gates drug will lead to the wacky tobaccy! Someone think of the kids!
