Hmm, was getting sources and looks like I misunderstood a few things about what the judge did. Still bad but but nowhere near as bad as I had thought. So that's a mea culpa.

Naturally. Things rarely are as bad as ''sources'' on social media claim.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 2:47 pm Hmm, was getting sources and looks like I misunderstood a few things about what the judge did. Still bad but but nowhere near as bad as I had thought. So that's a mea culpa.

I'm really not sure what to make of the situation of the people chasing him when he's running away from and with a non-concealed gun no less.

The problem with political discussion isn't that people have different perspectives on reality, but that they seem to exist in totally different realities yet somehow access a single world's media and judicial system.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 2:07 pm The "political view" that cold blooded murderers who openly boast about their crimes should not be let off on the pretext that it's self defense if the people you're shooting at looked scared? That embargoing all the important evidence to get your pet terrorist off is a gross miscarriage of justice? Just... any respect for rule of law? Sure.

Like I said above, I misunderstood some of the facts of the case. Specifically that Wisconsin's standard of "self defense" is so different from the ones I'm familiar with that even calling Wisconsin's version "self defense" feels satirical. It's one of those "fifty counties in a trenchcoat" problems.

That's exactly what I'm talking about - a complete unwillingness, or a complete inability, to deal with reality as it exists.

Okay, Cliff's Notes? What exactly happened here?
Re: Rittenhouse Trial Outcome - Protests Emerge
Self-defense laws are badly designed in the US and the situation here effectively awarded whoever shot first with an affirmative defense.ProfessorDetective wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 10:18 am Okay, Cliff's Notes? What exactly happened here?
