Why would Charles actually want to be King? There doesn't seem to be a lot of benefit to the actual monarch.

Fun fact: as of today Barbados has cut ties with the British throne, and is now an independant republic.

Living in luxury at the public's expense is certainly a plus.

And he doesn't already? Doesn't he already have a 'court' of his own?
I got nothing to say here.

Control over vast amounts of wealth and land isn't a benefit?

No great loss. This is a country that - no joke - during the same ceremony that Christened their new government made Rihanna a national hero.

History. Prince Charles will be forgotten long before King Charles.

You may chuckle, but the Windsor's at least take their seriously still.

Yeah well, Charles I was a such a fuck-up he led to civil war and Charles II fought with parliament near constantly and fathered a dozen bastards. I'm not sure if Charles III (or more likely George VII) will be any more remembered than Edward VII (who ended his reign in a constitutional crisis).
