What a surprise.
Of course, there's even a subset of Bond fans losing their shit by Q making a very brief reference to having a date that happens to be male. It was probably just one second of dialogue, but that was too much.
"THEY'RE SHOVING THE AGENDA DOWN MY THROAT!!!"
These people need to chill the fuck out and stop giving themselves anxiety over what shouldn't even be a big deal.

Well that's a good example both ways. Rather innocuous, but something nobody asked about in a Bond movie ever. Then again, why do you think that would be?
..What mirror universe?

Showing a glimpse of the personal lives of the MI6 crew wasn't exactly a new thing.
GOLDENEYE featured Moneypenny in a dress, saying she had gone on a date with some gentleman.
CASINO ROYALE showed Judi Dench's M waking up to a phone call with her husband sleeping by her side.
SPECTRE showed Moneypenny having a boyfriend in her bed as Bond was calling her for help on info.
And now NO TIME TO DIE has Q briefly mention that he's expecting his male date to show up at his place when Bond and Moneypenny make an unannounced visit.
Nobody complained about the first three examples, but they did for NO TIME TO DIE.
Why? Homophobia.

Which is my point. Bond and Marvel have roughly the same amount of films. Bond is of course spread out over 60 years, Marvel only 14.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 11:53 pm Showing a glimpse of the personal lives of the MI6 crew wasn't exactly a new thing.

So a blatant in your face example of homosexuality is woke. Not in a new movie but after 20+ films where their is blatant heterosexuality happens. When will it not be woke? Wait another 10-20 or 60 years?
I got nothing to say here.

I think until Ben Whishaw's Q, the only gay characters featured were villains. The most recent being Silva from SKYFALL, though I think he's more bi.

It's reasonable to find propaganda objectionable, even if you'd otherwise agree with the position being propagandized.
Hollywood (and other media creators) have a wide variety of ideas that are constantly being pushed in movies and television shows. Not so much in books - not popular enough, sadly. Those tend to carry the favorite ideas of authors, which are generally too idiosyncratic to be really effective propaganda campaigns, but it does occasionally happen - see Robert Heinlein for a classic example.
If you (for whatever value of 'you') are intentionally trying to normalize a behavior, abstract position, or identity by including it in media, that's a propagandistic agenda. That must be acknowledged before discussion can continue.

Propaganda is, by it's definition, "information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view."
Wanting to normalize things like LGBT, people of color and different religious ideologies along with showing atheism as just as valid as religion that's NOT propaganda because the information is not of a misleading nature used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. Being queer, someone of a different skin color, religious or not Is Normal, trying to get others to realize this is trying to get everyone else to catch up with this fact.
Every creator of every media does include their own views and often political agendas and in some cases force those views (and that includes novels) but that doesn't mean those stories are Propaganda.

Propaganda:
1) The systematic propagation of a doctrine or cause or of information reflecting the views and interests of those advocating such a doctrine or cause.
2)Material disseminated by the advocates or opponents of a doctrine or cause.
...because you associate 'propaganda' with deception and falsehood, and you approve of the goal.Wanting to normalize things like LGBT, people of color and different religious ideologies along with showing atheism as just as valid as religion that's NOT propaganda
But your understanding of propaganda is incorrect.

If those kind of people dislike propaganda so much, they really should just stick to watching something like GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS. Or maybe THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, which is primarily starring straight white males, with maybe one token black guy.
I think the only female that appears in that movie is Gates McFadden, and she's in it for like five seconds as "the wife".

I looked it up in the dictionary! Those were the words written and yes I approve of the goal because I think people should be treated equally regardless of their gender, sexuality, religion or race.Frustration wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 11:16 pmPropaganda:
