Discovery Renewed for Season 5
Re: Discovery Renewed for Season 5
I'm genuinely curious if NuTrek will end up like The Land Before Time, as in after the success of the original 1988 film, they made 13 more films over the next 28 years, except no one ever heard of them since they were all released on DVD (I myself only learnt about them until some years ago when I saw the second or the third film on TV), only with the DVD market dead, now it's on streaming. Imagine, NuTrek being produced for nearly 3 decades that almost no one watches, that would be something.

*Someone* is watching this stuff, and I suspect the people who watch are part of the highly-valued age demographic.
The people who prefer the more classic forms of Trek are aging out of demographic desirability. It's part of why Star Trek survived in the first place, only now it's why old Trek is being abandoned.

It would be very ironic if all the toxic hate-watchers are funding the shows into profitability.

Hollywood accounting can be very creative!
(Note: this is sarcasm and not a serious conspiracy suggestion)
Seriously though, I'm sure at least some actually are paying to hate it (especially the ones making money off of their hatred for viewership on YouTube, etc.)

All those reviewers have to watch the show, whether they like it or not, if they want to cover it.
The shows are much more flashy, but special effects have become cheap in recent years. Ignore the glitz and I suspect you'll find the shows are made much more cheaply (compensating for inflation etcetera) than they used to be. Streaming is making a profit for lots of people.
The ultimate factor is how much money can be made, not whether the product is good or not.

Even if they're torrenting, they're still devoting so much of their own precious time into something they hate. Time is more valuable than money.
Like, I already hate what I've read of THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT, so not only am I not going to bother wasting my time watching it, I'm also not going to bother talking about it aside from brief posts like this. Why devote all that time? There's already SO MUCH content out there that you can find more joy in. Life's too short.

It's increasingly impossible to enjoy all of the things I want to enjoy, there's just too much now.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 8:05 pm There's already SO MUCH content out there that you can find more joy in. Life's too short.

I'm a HUGE fan of James Bond movies, and I've already made peace with the fact that I may never get to see every Bond film ever made because they'll more likely keep making them after I pass away. My attitude is the same regarding content both old AND new. I'm just glad to enjoy it when I do, and I think people that hate watch should reconsider. I think I would be miserable too if I forced myself to watch something I don't like and talk about it on YouTube so that I can pay the bills.Deledrius wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 7:20 pmIt's increasingly impossible to enjoy all of the things I want to enjoy, there's just too much now.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 8:05 pm There's already SO MUCH content out there that you can find more joy in. Unless you're Chuck, and you have a sense of humor about what you do. Fandom Menace on the other hand seem just utterly miserable and humorless.
