The 13th Doctor announced
Re: The 13th Doctor announced
I feel the outfit feel much more in-line with older doctors than what we had since the 9th doctor, I'm not woah by it, but it's fine, I might end up liking more once I get back in Doctor Who

Meh. I never liked the look of the Galaxy class. And hey, could've been a fez.

?
I'm not sure what the galaxy class has to do with this.
And I forgot about Eleven's Fez.

Yeah, that was a bit cryptic, wasn't it? Oops. I never liked how the Enterprise D looked on-screen, but it didn't really take away my enjoyment of ST:TNG. If the new Doctor wears suspenders and shoulder pads(?), it won't really make or break the show for me.The Romulan Republic wrote:?

How long would it take not to notice Fifth's celery stalk?
Re: The 13th Doctor announced
As an aside, I always thought the 5th Doctor's habit of wearing Celery was a gentle play on wearing the Scottish Thistle or a Welsh Leek.

I honestly don't care all that much about the Doctor being a woman. I think the "transition" would change some parts of the show's dynamic (just a given if you are changing the lead character's gender), but I can't really say if the changes to the show would be good or bad from this point. Kinda just have to wait till we actually see this Doctor in action before placing such judgement.
I think the biggest issue here, and has already been mentioned, is how exactly the producers and writers will handle this new dynamic. Will she be the Doctor, or will she be the Female Doctor? Unfortunately, given our culture, I feel that the latter is more likely to happen, which is why I have trepidation concerning this.

Besides, it’s eccentricity, not insanity. That’s the advantage of being old and having so much history, rather than being a young whippersnapper like the US.Fixer wrote:Nothing that can't be solved by a nice hot cup of tea and maybe a biscuit to dunk in it.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote:what the flagnar is wrong with the UK?
History lesson time for the Yankie kiddos here; the leek dates back way before uniforms were invented, to a major battle we fought against the English where the Welsh army allegedly wore leeks (although it’s thought this is a mistranslation and they were actually more along the lines of spring onions) in their hats to show they were Welsh.

Re: The 13th Doctor announced
The first trailer on YouTube looked a bit like it could be that (my reaction to it basically was: that coat is too "nice" and not nearly weird enough!), but this outfit here seems to suggest to me that they're definitely aiming for the former. There's really nothing overtly "feminine" about that outfit, but it's all taken from the outfits of all the previous Doctors we've had.PlasmaHam wrote:I think the biggest issue here, and has already been mentioned, is how exactly the producers and writers will handle this new dynamic.
