Orville - Old Wounds

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Wait, you're telling me the "eh, rape is no big deal" episode with the rapey blue guy wasn't a clunker?! That thing was worse than Code of Honor.
It told its story in a way that I didn't fully clue into the implications afterwards. It wasn't boring. The alien zoo episode was snoozeville all the way though.

The Mercer/Kelly relationship, EVERYTHING about Darulio, and the evolving Mochlan storyline that they clearly were writing by the seat of their pants with SOMETHING (but I have absolutely no idea what) to say about gender shows Seth has some very weird ideas about relationships.

Oddly, I say this while freely stating I think "Lasting Impressions" (where Gordon falls in love with a girl constructed from her cell phone's contents) is genuinely fantastic science fiction.

The episode had some entertaining parts, if you don't think about the implications too much. But yeah, ultimately, that episode was so problematic. And I didn't like them letting Kelly off the hook cause drugs. Not only was he not punished for what he did, but she had legitimate issues with their relationship (not an excuse to cheat, but that's part of the point).

Yeah, that is a fucked up "solution."

Rather than deal with your unhappy spouse cheating, we're having you both sexually assaulted via date rape pheremones.

Okay!
