Re: SG1 Maternal Instinct
The ascended basically see the un-ascended world as an antfarm, and the un-ascended people are just the ants running in them, if you have an antfarm do you get worked up by the antwars? The only time people with an antfarm worry about that is when the antdrama is about to spill out of the farm or will wipe out the ecosystem in the terrarium. Then it is squishing time. In fact it is worse, the unascended world is more like a room, nay a hall, full of antfarms [and maybe a few aquariums too] which they occasionally walk through to check on. It is such a difference in levels of awareness.
Re: SG1 Maternal Instinct
You are forgetting something. This isn't ancient aliens with alieb biology that evolved or ascended to the next plane looking down on the hairless apes known as humans.CrypticMirror wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 12:24 am The ascended basically see the un-ascended world as an antfarm, and the un-ascended people are just the ants running in them, if you have an antfarm do you get worked up by the antwars? It's one or more of many iterations of humanity looking down on one of many iterations of humanity. Think about it. The Ancients were around for millions of years and all looked human and by the looks of it were human. The humans of SG-1 might just be the 26th version created by the Ancients in their 12th epoch.
Look at their attitudes versus the Ori. Ori think their followers are ants. The Ancients don't. Even their interactions with humans the same plane don't reflect that.
I got nothing to say here.

Re: SG1 Maternal Instinct
That is the mistake a lot of people make, thinking that going from ant to antfarm keeper doesn't involve a massive change in perception and priorities. That is why it is called ascending to a higher plane of existence, that is why it is rare. That is why it takes either a lifetime of preparation, built upon generations of ancestors preparing, or a hand up from a previously ascended. All that once was, all the scurrying, falls away to reveal the greater majesty of being ascended. New patterns of thinking have to be developed and adopted, otherwise it can't happen. You are not just you with sparkly bits added, but a huge mental leap to see a hugely vaster canvas with all sorts of different priorities and interactions. It takes a massive amount of effort to open the mental gates enough to even conceive of that possibility though.McAvoy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 5:47 amYou are forgetting something. Re: SG1 Maternal Instinct
That may be. But we are still talking about ascended human beings who know what it was like to be on that lower plane of existence. They know what it is to be human. And likewise, humans can actually imagine what it would be like to be Ascended even if it would be limited to their own imagination.CrypticMirror wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 12:18 pmThat is the mistake a lot of people make, thinking that going from ant to antfarm keeper doesn't involve a massive change in perception and priorities. The antfarmer to the ant difference gap is huge. Size, shape, limitations etc.
I got nothing to say here.

Former human being. They leave all that stuff behind when the consciousness expands, and the material realm is left behind.

Not quite. The material realm is capable of posing a threat to them, and the Ascended seem to gain some kind of benefit from new entities ascending - otherwise they could simply sterilize the mortal planes.
And again, most of the Ascended aren't humans, whether modern or Ancient. Most of them are aliens.

In Stargate, the ascended beings have gone by different names but one thing they are, is human. It may even be that Earth was colonized or seeded by the Ancients. Remember they have been around for millions of years. They predate human evolution on Earth.Frustration wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 4:56 pm Not quite. In fact you could argue Earth humans are alien to Earth. Just going by the time frames.
Atlanteans were on Earth before Atlantis. There was two Stargate at one point. The one Antarctica predates the other one. Ancients were here before the Go'auld.
So yes they are human. More advanced ones obviously but human.

The universe is much older than humanity, even the Ancients, and there are beings that Ascended long before the first Ancients evolved.the ascended beings have gone by different names but one thing they are, is human.

Re: SG1 Maternal Instinct
Yes alyou could be right that some unknown alien/S are part of this ascended realm. We can assume that of course.Frustration wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 10:01 pmThe universe is much older than humanity, even the Ancients, and there are beings that Ascended long before the first Ancients evolved.the ascended beings have gone by different names but one thing they are, is human.
We can assumed Oma is actually a five legged purple alien with wings who ascended a billion years ago.
So these ascended aliens would actually agree with the ascended humans that come later or enforce the ascended humans to do the whole non interference thing too.
Or we take the show at face value that what we see are Ancients. As in first evolution of humans.
I mean if your head cannon is Oma being a five legged purple alien with wings go for it.
Stargate isn't that complicated.

No, Oma Desala is an Ascended Ancient, one of the last survivors of the species that developed in another galaxy and was responsible for the construction of modern humans.
Not all of the Ascended are Ancients. The overwhelmingly vast majority of them, in fact, aren't. The Ancients were the last species to Ascend in our galaxy, and were certainly the species that left the most baggage behind them when they did. So they're more involved with events in the mortal plane than the rest.
