In one of the crazier shit events of this, Ukraine has killed one of their own delegation when it was found out they were a Russian agent.

Tough break for Ukraine, going out like Superman at the end of Man of Steel in their first movie.

Putin’s built an image of himself as a last bastion of pure masculine western civilization, a bulwark against liberalization and progress, so he appeals strongly to most western fascistic sensibilities.
Eastern European fascists are instead looking at the original Nazis as having fought a valiant last stand against Russian expansionism, and thus idolize them in that aspect.

Yeah the Soviet Union is the closest real life left-wing power equivalent to Starfleet.
Putin's Russia on the other hand is more generally fascist now. It's like France having Germanic cultural heritage while having Latin-based language at the same time.

Re: The Ukrainian Crisis of 2022
100,000 people have volunteered to fight for Ukraine abroad. Most of which have military experience of some kind.
Which is a 1/3rd of their military.
Processing them and getting them on the field will be a major issue.

That number is not correct as far as I know. The 100k is the amount of citizens which have volunteered for the territorial army of Ukraine, the reserve forces. Foreigners was just about over a 1,000 by the last "official" count, with the target being a "foreign legion" of about 10,000 to 15k. (What's odd is how pretty much the entire planet volunteered for that foreign legion, with 70 of them being japanese for some reason.)CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 6:05 pm 100,000 people have volunteered to fight for Ukraine abroad. I mean I think there is a practical reason for that, the European far right, especially those in Former USSR and Warsaw Pact countries are at real risk of being next. The practical reality is that while they want thier own Putin to make thier own countries "strong" they know that Putin himself is Russian ethno nationalist and at best they'll be considered confused Russians and have thier culture destroyed and at worst they will be killed.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 10:02 am It's weird seeing European far-right groups being pro-Ukraine when so many American ones are enthusiastic Putin supporters. By contrast to the American far right Putin is purely an aspirational figure because they do not have to fear the direct consequences of his imperialism.
