Spider-Man's life did gradually improve over the decades until One More Day undid all of that and reset him to square one. Fan reactions should give a good idea just how tired people are of Peter being the perennial loser.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 4:36 pmSpeaking as a guy who professionally writes funny books (Supervillainy Saga was a best seller for a brief hot second), I don't have any problem with cringe comedy. I also disagree with the idea it requires a lack of empathy. Spider-Man has been doing cringe comedy for decades and Charlie Brown's life is suffering. I also like 80% of the comedy this episode.
They just needed to dial it a LITTLE more down for these two and it would have been perfect.
And Charles Schultz once stated that for all the bad things that happen to Charlie Brown he isn't a loser because a loser would have given up a long time ago. And the comic isn't even all about Charlie Brown's misfortunes, they're just the bits that are most recognized and parodied.
