Captain Uhura is the most interesting one to me. Could see a series in the Trek novels detailing some of her career as a Captain (including meeting Cadet Picard, since that's the same ship mentioned on a prop from Picard's storage room in Season 1 of the show).

The masked Borg Queen being Picard's mother and Picard going into space to look for her is probably the most ridiculous theory these two hacks came up with... so maybe something similar will happen, maybe that Borg Queen will have the memories of his mother somehow, due to some temporal incursion or something, and then they'll play it straight.

I mean, the episode literally slaps you in the face with that "twist" being the answer. I thought the same thing the moment she appeared when I was watching it, long before they posted their take on it. The Borg Emissary is wearing a bizarre, non-Borg outfit obscuring her face, the episode introduces a "new" character (Picard's mom) in the current show, she's apparently missing/gone through some tragic event, and this Emissary (that they keep calling the Queen, even though I'm not sure why anyone would jump to that conclusion when it's an entirely new type of look) even directly quotes her just to make it clear. The hacks running Picard are exactly the sort of people who would put a mask on someone who never wears a mask so you'll be surprised when they take it off, so it's a huge flag.

You might be right that it's not actually her, but it will at least be wearing her face. Otherwise it's a giant meta red-herring.

I'm just worried they're again teasing a Borg Origin story, one even more personal for Picard than ever and I really am not interested in that.

Also, why do the alien skulls look like the flesh and blood alien heads? Sure they're aliens and all, but do these people understand that not every ridge is bone? Really, even the Ferengi ear lobes have bones!

This entire "Evil Federation due to a single time change" story feels like fanfic. And I won't be surprised if it wasn't inspired by at least a few ST alternate timeline fanfics.

Or, and call me crazy, it is literally one of the most classic time travel usages in fiction.

It's like saying, "Wow, they're totally ripping off the Lord of the Rings in Zelda. An evil wizard taking over the land! Pfft!"

Does no one remember that Picard saw an image of his mother (or something) in the early episode in which they're doing warp drive research that's actually being implemented by the Traveler? The guy who warps them into someplace where thoughts become reality, needs Wesley's help to get them back, eventually comes to take Wesley away to learn reality-warping?

I remember, but I'm sure when these folks did a quick watch of the show to become familiar with the franchise for their new job, they were told to skip Season 1 of TNG. As is customary. :p

Given that Evil Picard had them stored in his villa for enjoyment, and given situations where the deaths could have happened, it could be in-universe possible that he had them touched-up and modified to look better for display. I mean, all those guns he had surely couldn't have looked that nice when he got them.

And this timeline is too xenophobic to probably care about the accuracy of what a Cardassian skull actually looks like anyway as long as there's a symbol for it.

Slightly underrated note...we do get a mention of a General Sisko in this: is it Ben or was Jake forced into service in this timeline? And if the former, wonder what The Prophets think of all this.
