And now I realize that it's less I want people to think like me and more that I don't understand why they don't.
I have been a victim of oppression because I'm autistic, I've been looked down on, physically abused and even had my life in danger from a lower functioning individual who was allowed around me and yet, am a paragon of virtue. I don't hate my abusers and can rise above them.
Okay, I'm sorry for Everything

Yet you still look down at others who don't share you views.

I try not to but I don't know how to convey my thoughts in a way that doesn't imply that. I doubt there is one, sadly.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 7:20 pm Yet you still look down at others who don't share you views.

Then maybe you should stop trying to make these thoughts if you can't.

Is the lack of understanding on your part from the autism or is there an element of you where you don't want to try to understand them even if you may be able to?Dragon Ball Fan wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 5:33 pm And now I realize that it's less I want people to think like me and more that I don't understand why they don't.

A real paragon of virtue doesn't call themselves that. I can say myself that much of my own personal problems have stemmed from what others have done to me and other things that were beyond my control, but I wouldn't ever say I'm free of fault out of the chance that there is something I might have missed which I've done that has impacted my life, if only my reactions to what has happened to me.
Imply? Do you or don't you see people of differing views as such?Dragon Ball Fan wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 8:19 pmI try not to but I don't know how to convey my thoughts in a way that doesn't imply that. I know how it can be to say one thing and have it be misinterpreted, but there seems to be more here than that.
From what I've read in this page alone you seem to ignore any role you have in your interaction with others. You say you are a target of oppression and then claim you're a paragon of virtue. I can see there that you may not be all that endearing to people, and if you carry this attitude openly enough in public, then I can see where you're "oppressing" others with your attitude.
Regardless of what has been done to you it is highly recommended you get of this victimization state of mind as it seems to be holding you in place.
Autism doesn't work that way given the hyperfocus.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 8:38 pm Then maybe you should stop trying to make these thoughts if you can't.

I don't think I can understand them, it's not about my willingness.Beastro wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 1:14 amIs the lack of understanding on your part from the autism or is there an element of you where you don't want to try to understand them even if you may be able to?Dragon Ball Fan wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 5:33 pm And now I realize that it's less I want people to think like me and more that I don't understand why they don't.

And I don't mean to imply I'm perfect, at least, not anymore but I use phases like moral paragon to get my main point across.
Re: Okay, I'm sorry for Everything
Ok, I understand that and... it's more unfortunate for you than if you were callous as it would no doubt be easier for you to change your understanding than the reality in which you're living.Dragon Ball Fan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 1:55 am

I'm reminded of a co-workers son who's autistic. They had to move in with my brother's family for a few months because their rental flooded and the son hung out with my brother and niece often who are quite disagreeable people.
Once he went into the living room when they were watching a movie and started blaring a YouTube video loudly oblivious to it interfering with them. They yelled at him to turn it off, he then started loudly complaining asking why they were upset, which got them yelling even more. He tried doing something else noisey until I stepped in trying to spare him further fury and firmly told him that he was getting close to the line, to go into the kitchen and watch his YouTube video there.
He left, then broke down crying, most likely because he's not used to me talking like that to him. I came over to him, patted him on the back saying sadly that I knew he didn't understand and that was the problem people had with him. It always sucks when you're cut off from other people.

Yeah, I think I am cut off from everyone except family and friends who have more or less, the same exact values as I do.Beastro wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 2:07 amOk, I understand that and... it's more unfortunate for you than if you were callous as it would no doubt be easier for you to change your understanding than the reality in which you're living.Dragon Ball Fan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 1:55 am

So weather they are monsters or people pushed to extremism by circumstance, I can't really empathize with people who do bad things on an emotional level because of my moralistic upbringing and in fact, it literally hurts to try and put myself in their shoes.

And I don't feel it is an immediate problem anymore, if people are so against police brutality, they advocate murdering police officers, then wile BLM may solve one problem, those who hold those beliefs and those who do not call them out have created a brand new problem.

Yeah and but what do you think about the fact that nobody takes those nutjobs seriously?Dragon Ball Fan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 9:10 pm And I don't feel it is an immediate problem anymore, if people are so against police brutality, they advocate murdering police officers, then wile BLM may solve one problem, those who hold those beliefs and those who do not call them out have created a brand new problem.
