That seems more like an attempt to make the Oscars relevant again than anything.

Use your head, FN, use your head. If, due to the strategic features of a situation, the only way to achieve 'victory' according to some person's metrics is to use scorched earth tactics, then those tactics are necessary to achieve victory.

My approval, or disapproval, has nothing to do with the matter.

So, Roman Abramovitch (UK resident Russian oligarch who isn't a big fan of the invasion) and a couple of Ukrainian negotiators have been poisoned at the peace talks. They were left temporarily blinded and with peeling skin, although they have since recovered.

It might have been environmental but there is speculation that it was hardliners in the Kremlin trying to sabotage the peace talks and it was intended as a "warning" that he is committing treason in their eyes.

Victory is about achieving a goal and to do that you need to know what your goal is and how you can achieve it, otherwise the fighting can never end. It's like a NASCAR race without a checkered flag, you just go around and around in circles until everyone's dead.

I'm betting on foreign meddling.

It's a weird sort of action since he could just cancel the peace talks.

He could, but that would work against his narrative in terms of propaganda.

So, three hundred+ civilians have been killed in the bombing of a theater used to hold refugees.

Russia is now being accused of war crimes for indiscriminate bombing of civilians - this incident, and others.

As bad as that was, I feel like it pales to the attacks on the evacuation corridors that they tried to set up as well as mass deportation of captured Ukrainian civilians to Russia.
