Every time I think society as a whole has softened with the gay community, then I see this
I got nothing to say here.

It's not what I meant.

All my life I have known gay people. They all were nice people. They just want to be treated like normal people. And the thing is they are until they say they are gay or treated like they are gay. As in feminine. I know guys who are gay that don't set off that gaydar.

What I actually meant, unlike the 90's where gay characters were not shown but implied. And actual onscreen gayness was greatly frowned upon. Or that gay jokes as being gay being negative was still normal and laughed at sort of thing.

Don't get me wrong, I am fully aware that nowadays showing a gay couple with a kid in a movie now considered woke. That's just stupid.

I do think as a society as whole has come a long way in the past 20 years in gay acceptance.

Nowadays I think it's more about the 'others' that get the attention.

I don't think anyone can completely free themselves from bias, but that's no excuse not to be as impartial and objective as you can. We can make a meaningful distinction between historical fact, historical speculation, and ideology masquerading as either.

Are you seriously asking whether I'm arguing a position I have earlier explicitly rejected?

Seriously?

American history as taught in schools is propaganda meant to extol the value of the American empire. Like part of the iconoclast nature of the left is a reaction to a feeling that everything they have ever been taught about America is a lie.

What exactly is the argument for compelling a captive audience of other people's children to participate in an ideologically fraught event like Pride?

So you do not have an argument defending making other people's kids participate in celebrating a quasi-religious doctrine?

I mean by that logic school should be banned all together, after all what if people don't want their children to learn writing. That people should be literate is an ideologically fraught position, one in fact opposed by the great philosopher Socrates.
That is an amazing stretch of logic. Teaching basic skills like reading, writing and mathematics are the same as celebrating an ideological doctrine, and if the public decides against the latter, then you cannot teach the former.

I do not see much difference between faculty leading a Pride Week in a public school and faculty leading the students in an explicity doctrinaire prayer.
