Guinan having kinda forgotten where she came from and behaving wierd is based on this iteration of Guinan actually being an entirely different character that was "rewritten" to be Guinan. Why "rewritten" and not rewritten? Because they simply changed the name and apparently didn't change much of anything else along with forgetting continuity. Fuck this series and fuck the people responsible for it.Mabus wrote: ↑Wed Apr 06, 2022 3:20 pm Video is broken. Here's an alternate link:

I guess despite their claims that the series won't be a TNG reunion, now they've backpedaled.
I hope the rest of the TNG cast grow some balls and force the producers to do season 3 like a proper Trek series, if Frakes was able to make one OK episode in S1 of Picard, surely the rest can put enough pressure to do that for a whole (final) season.
Which is even more jarring, as 130 years prior, Guinan was living among the rich elite, and things were worse back then, both for the average man and for the average black man. She literally experienced the Gilded Age, which saw events far worse than anything happening in freakin' LA.Frustration wrote: ↑Tue Apr 05, 2022 10:08 pm I was particularly struck by Guinan's talk about how "a few folks have enough resources to fix all the problems for the rest, but they don't".
It's an excellent example of a set of closely-related beliefs that I've been seeing more and more of as time passes: it's up to other people to solve our problems for us, 'we' have no resources and are helpless.
"A few folks have enough resources to fix all the problems for the rest, but they don't"? How about "I literally lived among robber barons, and back then almost no one, be it the rich elite or politicians, cared about saving the environment like some do today".
"Millennial Guinan" is perfectly fitting nickname for her.

I think if there's one common thread between practically all of us, it's that we're Star Trek fans. Well, except for DragonBallFan and that other nut-job maybe.

I thought the thread would be being fans of Chuck, but OK.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 12:17 amI think if there's one common thread between practically all of us, it's that we're Star Trek fans. Well, except for DragonBallFan and that other nut-job maybe.

Good point. Though given how little we often actually discuss in the review sections, as compared to pretty much everywhere else, it's easy to forget.

Episode 6:
-Yeah, sure, they're totally gonna kill Picard in the middle of the season! In his own show! With the third season greenlit! And already filmed! With the entire TNG cast returning! Yeah sure, I'll totally be on the edge of my seat worried that Picard might not make it. Fuck off Alex Kurtzman! Who are you trying to fool?
-Every time Raffi sees hallucination Elnor I recall those scenes from the remake of The Wicker Man, where Nic Cage's character keeps seeing that dead little girl, and while they play it serious, it just comes across as unintentionally hilarious. Same thing happens here, since neither characters had a longer screen interaction than 2 minutes tops, it's more comedic rather than emotional.
-Umm... Agnes? Didn't you say not to create "butterflies"? This event is probably going to be covered in the media one way or another, regardless of the security (they allow people to use phones inside, so they'll take photos somehow). Sure, you let the Borg Queen somehow take control, but, really? Was it really necessary for you to sing? The team was already out during the blackout.
-Ah, so Kore is just the latest in Soong's test tube babies. Will there be any mention of the Eugenics Wars? Or will this lead to the Eugenics Wars? If it's the second, it'd be kind of lame for the seeds of the war to begin in LA, I preferred the original idea of them being set only in Asia and parts of Africa. But I guess it's cheaper to film in LA than Delhi.
4 more episodes left, and the story is still moving at crawling pace. And even though it's supposed to be serialized, each episode feels very disjointed from the previous. As Red Letter Media put it best in their review of ep. 4 and 5, the show "it's a big game of telephone between the writers of the show", with each story only tying superficially to the previous. I have a feeling that the conclusion will be just like in the first season, exposition dumped in the last two episodes and the grand finale will take place in the second half of the last episode.

I don't necessarily disagree. Nor do I think we should tell companies what they should pay their employees.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed Apr 06, 2022 8:31 pm https://twitter.com/berniesanders/statu ... 0881093635

You are joking right? You are complaining about this? Of the 100 years of TV shows, where a show has the lead looking like he or she might be killed in their own show in the middle of a season, you are going to complain about this?Mabus wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 5:09 pm Episode 6:
