FL Governer strips disney of self-governing status

Apparently governor DeSantis is so furious over Disney not supporting the Don't Say Gay Bill (or maybe it's because they made a movie that talks about periods?) he's stripping Didney Worl of its autonomous status. To which you may say, wait, Disney had a self-governing status? Of course it does! We are in a late capitalist dystopian nightmare.

Anyway, yeah, I was shocked to learn it and I hate all parties involved.

No, he didn't. He "signaled support" for the idea that said status should be removed.

Get your facts straight.

Honestly I doubt he'll make any real move on it. It's just the new version of the Mr Potato Head and Dr. Suess things from last year. It gets him some culture war points, he gets a Fox appearance to plug his presidential run, in a month he pretends it never happened.

But yeah, "both sides lose" seems like the best outcome here.

Regardless of what the actual reasoning behind this decision was, the fact is that Disney's actions to secure its copyright and property over the years is worthy of a gangster film. No corporation should have this level of power. We are almost talking a country within a country here. Like the Vatican.

I dunno how true this is, it might be complete bollocks, but I read somewhere that Disney's self-governing status is so strong that it could do anything from build its own nuclear reactor to having its own standing army.

Well, RCID currently contracts it's law enforcement to officers of the surrounding counties, and Disney operates an electric company, but I'm sure they couldn't just build a nuclear reactor with no oversight from anybody.

Correction, he just threatened to do it.

Threatening to do leftist things to own the libs XD

Meanwhile Disney has basically been FORCED to swing more socially progressive because Chapek's own limp organed response riled up the entire fan base.

Accidentally pushing Disney to the left to own the libs.

DeSantis would be hilariously pathetic if he weren't so shamelessly evil.

What type of rules do you expect for Disney to just hand over copyright protections to the fans though?
