Hmm that does come off as a rather halfbaked theory.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 5:56 pmThat doesn't really scan.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 5:44 pmProbably 'cause Amsterdam is pro marijuana.Wargriffin wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 4:10 pmEven old New York was once New Amsterdamhammerofglass wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 1:58 amI didn't write the song y'all. Re: The Ukrainian Crisis of 2022
Well, you've all probably heard of the story of the russian soldiers frolicking around and digging radioactive dirt out of the ground in Chernobyl's "Red Forest" to create (vehicle) trenches and, in some cases, even sleeping in them. It gets better... Yesterday, Energoatom, the ukrainian state company responsible for running the four ukrainian nuclear power plants, released the following statement on their Telegram-channel (Google translated):
Russian state media reporting that the Ukrainians experimented with nuclear arms and used dirty bombs in 3... 2... 1...
A somewhat similar incident in Goiânia in 1987, when some scrap-metal thieves removed 96 grams of higly radioactive material from an abandoned hospital and sharing it with friends and family all over the city, lead to 4 people dying shortly after aquiring the material with a further 250 heavily injured and over 500 people with health-problems to this day. Well, this is potentially a few thousand problems less for Ukraine.Once again about nuclear terrorism and new Darwin Prize nominees
We are talking about the situation at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the city of Chernobyl, the "activities" of the Russian occupiers in the Chernobyl zone, digging trenches in the Red Forest, the radiation received there and further "prospects".
According to the State Agency of Ukraine for Exclusion Zone Management (SACP) in Chernobyl there were two laboratories for research of current problems of radiation exposure, characteristics of substances, options for handling radioactive materials.
The occupiers destroyed the central analytical laboratory for radioactive waste characterization (RW) at the state special enterprise Ecocenter. At the same time, they unauthorizedly entered the storage of ionizing radiation sources, where exemplary radioactive solutions and calibration sources were stored, and stole and damaged 133 sources with a total activity of about 7 million Becquerels. This can be compared with 700 kg of radwaste with the presence of beta and gamma radiation.
Even a small part of this activity is deadly if handled unprofessionally and uncontrollably. Nobody knows where these sources are now!
Russian marauding invaders also looted and destroyed the offices and laboratory of the NPP Security Institute. They took away computers, office equipment, smashed or destroyed laboratory equipment and measuring devices, and looted garages with vehicles used to deliver scientists to research sites.
The laboratories had sources of ionizing radiation and samples of fuel-containing materials from the Shelter, which the scientists used for research. Where these materials are also unknown.
Most likely, according to DAZV, both the radiation sources and the fuel were taken away by the occupiers as "souvenirs", and then these "heroes" will take Darwin's prizes even from those doomed racists who inhaled the dust of the Red Forest while in it. After all, carrying such a souvenir with you for two weeks will inevitably lead to radiation burns, radiation sickness and irreversible processes in the body.

Re: The Ukrainian Crisis of 2022
There's a lot of reports of soldiers shipping stolen loot home to their families all over Russia. If that loot includes this radioactive material...

Re: The Ukrainian Crisis of 2022
If Russia wanted to make some dirty bombs (and do their usual "wasn't us!" every time they get caught) they'd have enough material of their own to use, so I can't see any point in any official looting of Chernobyl. So I'll go with the souvenir-hunting loutish fools.

Ukraine is supposed to have several working nuclear reactors, if Russia wanted to carry out a 'poisoned well' operation couldn't they just bomb them, destroying the containment housing and exposing the core like the Chernobyl disaster and blame it all on battlefield confusion?Riedquat wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 9:35 pm If Russia wanted to make some dirty bombs (and do their usual "wasn't us!" every time they get caught) they'd have enough material of their own to use, so I can't see any point in any official looting of Chernobyl. Re: The Ukrainian Crisis of 2022
The Russian MO seems to be to do something really, really stupid and then not blame it on battlefield confusion (that would mean they could make mistakes, something they'll never admit to as they keep blundering on) but ludicrously claim sabotage to try to make Russia look bad instead.phantom000 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 9:41 pmUkraine is supposed to have several working nuclear reactors, if Russia wanted to carry out a 'poisoned well' operation couldn't they just bomb them, destroying the containment housing and exposing the core like the Chernobyl disaster and blame it all on battlefield confusion?Riedquat wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 9:35 pm If Russia wanted to make some dirty bombs (and do their usual "wasn't us!" every time they get caught) they'd have enough material of their own to use, so I can't see any point in any official looting of Chernobyl. I guess the problem with doing something terrible like that is that there's a good chance it'll all blow over towards Russia. I think the winds were blowing in an unusual direction when Chernobyl had its accident.

In general? Yes, that's why wars are crap and Putin's complete and utter scum for starting this one. Or are you going beyond that?Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 11:12 pm Dear gods. There are going to be so many innocent people harmed my this. x_X
