French Elections and the future of Europe

So here we are again, Macron V Le Pen round 2. Only this time, Macron is a very damaged man. Gone is the bright-eyed darling of the Left. Here is Covid lockdowns, the yellowjackets, riots, a cost of living crisis. Macron is the pro-EU and probably more competent candidate, Le Pen though has an almost ''Trump-like'' following and at least used to be pro-Frexit. And we all know how well Trump managed against similarly broken Hillary.

Imo, if Marine ''Trump'' Le Pen wins, we are witnessing the fracturing of Europe.

Brexit in the UK (which may itself break up in a few years time), far right in France, far right in Hungary, far right making gains in Germany, massive EU dissatisfaction in Poland and Greece, war in Ukraine, an unstable Russia. This is not good. When Europe fractures, world wars historically happen.

THEN ADD a horribly unpopular and weakened Biden (according to the polls) and a resurgent China and the future is not as certain as it looked twenty years ago. Those were good days. Co-operation with Russia, no one had heard of Al Queda, Pax Americana, the poor were getting richer. You kids missed out.

Darling of the left is an over statement. He started from a Clinton/Blair triangulation position and then moved right over his entire presidency.

Liberalism cannot defeat fascism because it fundamentally fights for the same side, the rich. Only through the creation of a mass anti-capitalist movement can fascism and reaction be defeated.
