The Sims is obviously a Western attempt to undermine Russia with decadence.

Re: The Ukrainian Crisis of 2022
On a serious note: surely Ukrainians can infiltrate Russia as well as Russians infiltrating territories they intend to 'reclaim'. Not to mention the relatives of all the Russian soldiers being slaughtered, the relatives of all the people Putin has purged, people who have lost out because of trade sanctions, maybe unofficial agents originating from other countries who don't want Russia to prosper for various reasons and are willing to kick it while it's already down...
If it wasn't for all the innocents being killed I'd find this rather funny.

Ukrainian drones sinking 2 Russian patrol boats.

If its true, I wonder what it implies for armed conflict in the future. Is population still an issue if machines do most of your fighting anyway?

Drones are expensive. Human lives are relatively cheap by comparison.

Yes but it faster to get a new drone than train a person.

Re: The Ukrainian Crisis of 2022
I've always been kinda nervous about the idea of drones taking over combat roles. Drones are supposed to be cheap and easily replaced and it means your own people don't have to get killed in combat anymore but if most of your military is drones that no one cares about, does that mean you could launch a major war and none of your own people would ever know, or even care?Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 12:41 am Yes but it faster to get a new drone than train a person.
Imagine if Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine and the news never reported it because their own people honestly did not care. Who cares about a bunch of drones?
Okay that is probably a very extreme scenario but it is the kind of thing that worries me.

Also true of guided missiles. This has not limited their use.Frustration wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 7:42 pm Drones are expensive. Human lives are relatively cheap by comparison.

Re: The Ukrainian Crisis of 2022
We already had all that without the drones. Hell, it's been 50 years and most Americans still don't know what our country did to Laos.phantom000 wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 1:28 amI've always been kinda nervous about the idea of drones taking over combat roles. Big bad Russia killing civilians in Ukraine, what horrific savages! Meanwhile, US drone strikes have killed at least 22,000 civilians in the last 20 years - some sources put that figure as high as 48,000. Wonder how many people in the US have lost sleep over this? Or even know?hammerofglass wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 11:49 amWe already had all that without the drones. At least the US isn't (generally) doing it on purpose. 20 years for 22,000 deaths? That's 1,100 per year. This is not even tuesday for the russian soldateska.
