Did not know that.

As far as being offensive. South Park has been offensive for years. Family Guy just got tiring.
True but South Park has always done its own thing. Compared to Family guy that tries to pass itself off as a version of the Simpsons but doesn't have any of the charm from that cartoon.
I don't know. Sure maybe when Family Guy first came out it was similar to The Simpsons.

Now? There is an argument to be made that Family Guy influenced The Simpsons somewhere along the way, not the other way.
Maybe but at least Simpsons has standards.
What standards?
Well let's see they avoid jokes on stuff like 9-11 and disabled people compared to how family guy did it and Simpsons doesn't treat the daughter like crap like family guy did with Meg. Among other things.
I can agree with all but Meg. Treating her like crap is just a running joke. Because of Mila Kunis. Before she took over the role, they didn't treat Meg like crap.
I got nothing to say here.

Fair I just don't think the way her family treats her is funny.

Comedy is subjective.

Hell, I think they've toned down Homer's signature Bart throttling, in recent years.

Family Guy used to be creative and innovative in the jokes they made; they didn't rely on mere shock value to stand in for comedy. My guess (I haven't seen the show in years) is that they've increasingly relied on stock when wit wasn't available.

I... can't even talk about The Simpsons. A show that revolutionized modern culture, reduced to a reanimated corpse.

Maybe that the problem with Simpsons, it was revolution the culture so much, that the culture it originally was against no longer exist, so it has to change and lose that which gives it, it soul. Then again once you make a revolution can you really do it again?

That was why Stephen Colbert retired the Colbert Report.

Wasn't the Simpsons originally a bit of a satire of the modern sitcoms of the time?

Maybe on the Tracey Ullman show. Season one of the Simpsons, I thought was just a standard cartoon sitcom.

Satire wise,, I’d say it’s on the lighter side and not so biting.

Honestly I can't recall where I heard the origin and reason behind the Simpsons. Though it does make sense when you remember how the Simpsons used to be. Homer not being a real idiot, Lisa and Bart being almost normal but difficult kids. Marge being... Well Marge.

I think Family Guy may have started out as a Simpsons clone with its own thing. The problem is that The Simpsons really went downhill when they started to compete/copy The Family Guy style of humor.
I got nothing to say here.
