That's not what the concept of objective badness is about.

Indeed, hence me saying 'supposedly', and yet I've seen plenty who have used that exact wording and it's so mad to me that I had to include it.

Let's just say that things like holes in the show's plot have such an impact on its quality that we can dismiss it as 'bad' without having to invoke subjective judgments.

That's not being being objective, that's rejecting every subjective opinion that differs from your subjective opinion as invalid.

Subjective opinions don't conflict, because they have no implications.

"The plot is bad because I think there are inconsistencies" is an opinion. It is not a fact.

Ah, here's the problem: not only do you not understand other people's arguments, you don't know the difference between opinions and facts.

This is my complete lack of surprise.

I'd strongly disagree with that take. Leaving aside what hammerofglass was saying correctly. Take Beauty and the Beast which based on both overwhelming critical consensus and popular reception is one of the finest animated films of all time.

That thing has got plot holes out the wazoo. You can barely go a couple of minutes without needing to disengage your brain to stop you going 'wait, what? No seriously that raises so many questions, and even it being a fairy tale barely begins to compensate for them'.

Now this is the kind of thing that was fun to endlessly nitpick on a million blip followed by youtube videos, but the film remained a masterpiece in the eyes of the vast majority. Then the live action one came out, tried to address some of them as plot holes are bad, and made utter shite instead, and not just utter shite but utter shite with whole new plot holes of it's very own for good measure which is pretty funny really.

Plot holes are very subjective as they only matter negatively is if they break the experience of watching the media while it is happening. Those that you notice and overlook or don't occur until you've left the cinema or whatever just don't matter as much and those hit so differently with different people that it's impossible to consider them objectively.

What are the plot holes in Beauty and the Beast, again? (Be sure to exclude any that derive directly from the original fairy tale.)
