Sadly Russian doesn't have a word for tired, so you have to replace it with 'dead yet'.

Some highlights of a BBC interview with Sergei Lavrov:

Russia did not invade Ukraine. It was a special military operation to show the West that ''dragging'' Ukraine into NATO was a criminal act.

Hitler had Jewish blood (according to him) and therefore Jewish President Zelensky must be a Nazi.

Ukraine was the aggressor in this ''special military operation.''

Two British Ukrainian soldiers executed in recently were mercenaries, even though they were members of the Ukrainian armed forces.

A country that hasn't completely and utterly lost its marbles would at least make a half-hearted attempt to make itsd bullshit sound plausible. Adding "... and we know this because little yellow pixies told Putin" wouldn't make that lot sound more ridiculous. I don't know how anyone could trot out that drivel with a straight face.

How the hell's the world supposed to deal with a disgusging, thuggish regime with lots of nasty weapons that's gone completely cloud cuckoo?

No one wants a direct confrontation between two nuclear powers. Feeding Ukraine weapons isn't going to be enough.

Putin had a lengthy speech today/yesterday. Most of the usual stuff. Placing blame on everyone but Russia. Some rhetoric that Russia is doing fine during the sanctions.

I got nothing to say here.

So we know - or at least reasonably suspect - that Russia is suffering terribly.

My worry is things were so bad for Russian people that what we mistake for horror is only a slight step down in reality.

My favorite part is the bit about how it's totally okay if Ukraine wishes to join NATO because countries are free to enter into agreements and it's not Russia's concern.

Is this an attempt to get the Russian people to Memory Hole themselves for the purposes of debasement? Or can the Russian leaders just not remember the past? I'm confused about the strategy, here.

Ukraine is now likely to join the EU. Conspiracy theories abound that one criteria that the EU will impose is for Ukraine to surrender the Donbas so as to give Putin an escape route.
