Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+
Thinking about it, in ANH when Kenobi tells Luke Vader killed Anakin the canon now seems to be that he was actually just being super polite and using Vader's preferred terms.

I saw it last night and I thought it was a convincing scene. A bit chilling watching him slide between the two.
I felt like they could have done more to show how Sidius has a mental exploitation of Anakin. They obviously don't need to go into it for the sake of the Obi Wan's show in particular, but they could have suggested a lot more while still remaining subtle and g-rated. Again though definitely something that could take place in another story, perhaps later down the line with the main bad guy in Shadows of the Empire.

..What mirror universe?

Probably could have Sidious in person. Maybe Force Lightning Vader as a lesson or something.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 1:47 pm I saw it last night and I thought it was a convincing scene. A bit chilling watching him slide between the two.

I got nothing to say here.

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+
Vader has to stay loyal to Palpatine because if he doesn't and starts being his own person he has to face all the horrible things he did for Palps. Pretty standard indoctrination for anything from cults to child soldiers. I don't know how you'd portray it on screen, though.

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+
There's a rather good webcomic called Order of the Stick. One of the prequel books has a scene that's basically exactly spelling that out and it's so dang spot on how to do it right.

That one's weird, though, because Xykon is actually wrong in that speech. Or rather, he's wrong in thinking that the sunk cost makes Redcloak loyal to him. The reality gets spelled out in the strips 828-830.

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+
I wouldn't say he's wrong, but I would agree that he isn't totally right. As Right Eye pointed out the Plan needs an Arcane caster of sufficient level and that caster to Redcloak since then has never not been Xykon. So he is at once entirely loyal to the lich while also using him for the Dark One's Plan.
Saying that I do expect one day Redcloak will try to turn the tables on Xykon to his face as you don't leave that Chekhov's Domination spell on the Monster in the Darkness that long for it not to pay off good and hard.
I'd also say that yeah it wouldn't work for Palpatine and Vader if only that I think that Palpatine holds Vader in much higher regard and respect than Xykon does Redcloak
