Depends on whether they were rioting, destroying private property, and threatening his life.

No that isn't the answer to the question.Frustration wrote: ↑Mon Jun 27, 2022 4:44 pmDepends on whether they were rioting, destroying private property, and threatening his life.
Bringing up the background of those killed means jackshit. Rittenhouse did not come out to kill specifically them because of their background.
So their background means nothing. Just like if they were upstanding citizens doing the same exact thing the 'not-upstanding citizens' were doing.
It's a red herring that is it.
I got nothing to say here.

The actions they were taking are part of their "background". A violent rioter threatening the life of a bystander isn't a citizen in good standing.

The first victim was armed with a toothbrush. The violent kerfluffle resulting from that point, is entirely the fault of Rittenhouse, because it happened as a direct and immediate result of said shooting. In any other circumstance, you'd shout hooray for the mob trying to stop the shooter.

The shooter only shot because he was charged by rioters.
Don't *tell* me what I would do in any circumstance. Don't make up a response, attribute it to me, and then treat that as evidence about what I believe.

You really, really aren't.
I think you live in a nightmare world, surrounded by projections of all the ugliness inside your head.

I grew up in a gun culture. If you have a gun drawn, you should be treated as if you are expected to use it. It's why I'm disgusted with Rittenhouse's treatment by gun owners because they are basically giving horrific gun behavior a pass. The people around him reacted as people should when a gun is drawn. They treated him as an active threat and shooter.Frustration wrote: ↑Mon Jun 27, 2022 4:42 pm He didn't just grab a gun and start shooting people. They were threatening his life, and he was defending private property from being destroyed in a riot. Which is why he was acquitted at trial.
If I was on a jury and someone gunned Rittenhouse down, it would have been an easy acquittal because a drawn weapon is a threat.

I don't really see how a rifle can be anything but a drawn weapon.

Though seriously, why would anyone carry a rifle around in an urban area?
