Frankly, once she's gone, I wonder if there won't be more of a call to eliminate the monarchy completely, but I don't think it will happen while she's alive, if only out of respect for her.
I think it's a stretch to call any job where you wear fist-sized gemstones and sit in golden thrones "unrewarding."

An extremely materialistic outlook on life there.

1) Lots of the Crown Jewels are hideously tacky; they are certainty heavy and uncomfortable.
2) She doesn't actually own those jewels or those golden thrones - she can't up and sell them.
3) The actual rewards of the position are few.

Oh yes, those poor unrewarded Royals. They barely own the clothes they wear...

They're major celebrities, with all the need for bodyguards and 24-hour-surveillance that implies. But they don't have the actual wealth that most celebrities of that level possess. They can't just go out and buy whatever they want. They're born into the position rather than choosing it. And they have very, very little personal freedom.

It's not all a bed of roses, is my point.

Yeah, the royal family has only 500 million dollars in personal wealth. She couldn't even afford Bezos's superyacht.

If anyone of them wanted out, I'd trade. They can have my life, I take theirs. I'll be happy easily.

They can keep theirs. The material trappings aren't worth it, I'd rather have my life.

A gilded cage does not a palace make. The Royals are materially comfortable. That's pretty much the only advantage to being a Royal. The costs are... profound.
