Help them do what exactly? Quit and get other jobs?
Not be murdered by other officers or help them with their PTSD, which a lot of cops have.
And how is quitting and thus, not trying to change things from the inside not a cowardly thing to do? I have no respect for cops who abuse their power but I have just as much respect for a cop who quits, because they are cowards.

Actively hurting people: Bad.
Refusing to participate in actively hurting people: Exactly as bad.
Willingly collaborating with actively hurting people: Good.
I think your moral compass might actually be broken.

Just stop responding to him. There might be a glimmer of hope that he gets the hint and stop trying to bring up the same exact thing for the 1,561 time.

How do you get "Willingly collaborating with actively hurting people" out of "trying to reform the system from within"?
And watching a video of how this applies to the treatment of the LGBT community, also applies to police officers. The things I've mentioned are three of the ten stages of genocide.

Anti police sentiments aren't really a political issue. Whether they are youtube protests, youtube comments, or street level antagonists of police officers, these all amount to a general level of unrest in society that is expected.
The kinds of issues you're talking about are typically showcased more around regional areas and communities, in which a lot of them go so far as to abstain from national overreach in terms of policy and attention in media.
That's one reason you're getting a lopsided impression of police favorability.
