Most people are result oriented rather than process oriented. Lots of people excused Roe's twisted reasoning because they prefer legalized abortion. It goes the other way too. Plenty of folks accept the absurdity of Pierson v Ray and Harlow v Fitzgerald because they think qualified immunity for cops should exist.Frustration wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 9:39 pmThe legal theory behind Roe vs. Wade is nonsense, and it needed to be overturned precisely because the ends do not justify the means.

Popular opinion has literally no correlation to policy. There is literally no representation of the will of the people at allFrustration wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:07 pmYou're totally lost contact with reality. Y'know what it's called when policy and popular opinion are a perfect match?
"Mob rule."
"Mob rule."

And popular opinion doesn't matter at all it's called Tyrany and I trust the mob before I trust a tyrant because at the end of the day the mob can be satisfied. Members of the mob are for the most part only violent when desperate and turned against each other by tyrants, but tyrants are never satiated.Frustration wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 11:16 pm Y'know what it's called when policy and popular opinion are a perfect match?

There is a reason why democracies with checks against the mob turn into tyrannies, but anarchist societies have to have tyrany imposed from without.
I do think it's deeply ironic that you have a quote from a communist in your signature and that holding back the will of the people was exactly what the Ing Soc did.

He probably heard the quote out of context from whatever alt-right podcast he copies all his talking points from. No way he's read it.Draco Dracul wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 12:02 amAnd popular opinion doesn't matter at all it's called Tyrany and I trust the mob before I trust a tyrant because at the end of the day the mob can be satisfied. When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.

Any time you start denigrating the intelligence of the people you should remind yourself that you're one of them.

With all due respect, that more aptly describes democracy. Or perhaps a constitutional democracy to be a bit more specific.Frustration wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 11:16 pm Y'know what it's called when policy and popular opinion are a perfect match?
"Mob rule."
And when children learn to devalue others, they can devalue anybody... including their parents.
