Well, it depends on the story that is presented. I mean, I thought the Mandalorian was going to be a bomb but I ended up loving it. Many thought The Clone Wars was going to crash and burn in the first season and it's now seen as one of the best series in Star Wars. The Thrawn Trilogy came out at a time when Star Wars wasn't popular and ended up reviving the series' popularity. Even A New Hope, the film that started it all, was seen by many before it came out as a film that wouldn't succeed and end Lucas' Carrier before it really began and we all know how that turned out.

I've made it no secret that I think The Disney Sequel Trilogy was a overall weak story that failed to live up to it's potential but it had potential. As I've also said before the She-Ra reboot handled the same concepts of TDST so much better and created what is, without a doubt, one of the best shows I've ever seen.

And, Waititi did direct one of my favorite episodes in The Mandalorian (that being the season one finally) but on the flip side I'm that weird fan who didn't enjoy Thor: Ragnarok so we'll see.

No, I meant I give it two films before they buckle and it becomes "The Original Trilogy, Take Four". And that's being generous, The Sequal Trilogy lasted ONE film before reverting to The Formula^TM.

I don't think it even lasted one film, The Force Awakens has been accused several times of just being a ANH copy and the same thing can be said about The Last Jedi as it's pretty much just The Empire Strikes Back. Honestly only Rise of Skywalker deviated from TOT formula as it is telling a mostly original story. Even the third act is pretty original and while there are some familiar beats it's more of it's own thing then the other two entries in the series.

And as I've said before, there's nothing really wrong with emulating TOT. I mean, Knights of the Old Republic emulated the overall story of TOT as a whole (I mean the game is pretty much the plot of ANH, the darker story elements of TESB and the climax of Return of the Jedi) but has it's own story to tell via Revan and is loved by fans.

I have this image of Disney doing everything it can to sabotage this 'new direction' then using the poor performance to kick him off and going right back to the same old shtick; trying to remake the original trilogy while falling further behind the MCU.

Star Wars will benefit from getting away from the Skywalker saga. Especially after the Sequel Trilogy. Now, let it be part of the background like Luke in The Mandalorian.

His style actually might be refreshing too. We won't get forced cringe comedy like The Last Jedi. It will be more natural.

Honestly I would like less comedy going forward. I don't mean going full serious no jokes whatsoever but just to make comedy less of a focus. I actually liked the Comedy in The Force Awakens but as the series went on and comedy got more and more attention it just took me out of the film and became LESS funny as the series went on.

And I know I'm in the minority in this but I didn't much care for the humor in Thor: Ragnarok and often felt that it intruded in the more dramatic moments (not always and it was better handled then TDST but still annoying for me). However, Waititi HAS shown that he is capable of reigning in the comedy and can keep the focus on the drama (as shown in the season 1 finale of The Mandalorian) and Star Wars has taken steps to focus more on the drama rather then the comedy but still, kinda worried that Waititi will overdue it like TDST did.
