That actually reminds me of a couple of reviews while She-Ra was in it's 3rd season. While season 2 was going on there was a Slight decline in viewership in the show with many in the GWGB group saying the show was clearly going to bomb soon in the next season and would be yet another example why Woke was bad. And then season 3 came around and the show EXPLODED in popularity, getting rave reviews from pretty much everyone and got confirmed for not only one but TWO more seasons.BBally81 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 7:38 pm However, I've seen too many people attacking even actual GOOD media for being "woke propaganda" for whatever they see as "ticking boxes to pander to the woke" and if whatever media they see as "woke" is successful, they make up whatever excuse they think of to keep their "Go Woke, Go Broke" narrative intact, like "Disney buying tickets so Captain Marvel would make a billion" or "these viewership numbers are made up" or simply insulting the audience calling them "company shill consumers".
This led to a rather hilarious bit where the GWGB crowed started to panic because they had just been proven dead wrong and tried to turn the tables. They tried saying the reviews were faked and to just look at YouTube to see what people really thought. Videos with the highest view count on She-Ra were mostly positive with few to no negative reviews.
Then they tried to say that the numbers weren't that high and if it was the show would have gotten another season. Season 4 was announced soon after.
When it was clear the show was a hit a few tried to sift the credit to one of the executive producers who ND had credited for coming up with ideas that really helped the show (mainly make Catra and Adora childhood friends) and THAT is why the show was so good. Said EP announced that he was mostly hands off and credited ND and their staff for the high quality of the show's writing.
And finally they tried to get view counts so their videos, filled with the falls information and wrong guesses I just mentioned, to be the top viewed videos. They LOST most of their followers and their videos aren't even in the top 500 of most viewed videos (it's more like the low 90,000s ).
It was just one of those moments where reality itself seemed to be against them and everyone was just enjoying the great show that just happened to be the gayest ANYTHING the world had ever seen.
It reminded me a lot of that film Anonymous which was a adaptation of the Authorship Question (aka Shakespeare couldn't have written his own plays because poor people suck at art) the end result was a film that took the conspiracy theory 110% seriously and everyone realizing just how dumb it sounded once said out loud.
The same thing will happen again soon enough with the whole GWGB movement once everyone realize the term woke is meaningless and everyone finds something else to pin all their problems on. Me personally, I would love everyone to blame our issues on Pluto not being a planet anymore as it's entertaining no matter how you slice it.
