That actually reminds me of a couple of reviews while She-Ra was in it's 3rd season. While season 2 was going on there was a Slight decline in viewership in the show with many in the GWGB group saying the show was clearly going to bomb soon in the next season and would be yet another example why Woke was bad. And then season 3 came around and the show EXPLODED in popularity, getting rave reviews from pretty much everyone and got confirmed for not only one but TWO more seasons.

This led to a rather hilarious bit where the GWGB crowed started to panic because they had just been proven dead wrong and tried to turn the tables. They tried saying the reviews were faked and to just look at YouTube to see what people really thought. Videos with the highest view count on She-Ra were mostly positive with few to no negative reviews.

Then they tried to say that the numbers weren't that high and if it was the show would have gotten another season. Season 4 was announced soon after.

When it was clear the show was a hit a few tried to sift the credit to one of the executive producers who ND had credited for coming up with ideas that really helped the show (mainly make Catra and Adora childhood friends) and THAT is why the show was so good. Said EP announced that he was mostly hands off and credited ND and their staff for the high quality of the show's writing.

And finally they tried to get view counts so their videos, filled with the falls information and wrong guesses I just mentioned, to be the top viewed videos. They LOST most of their followers and their videos aren't even in the top 500 of most viewed videos (it's more like the low 90,000s  ).

It was just one of those moments where reality itself seemed to be against them and everyone was just enjoying the great show that just happened to be the gayest ANYTHING the world had ever seen.

It reminded me a lot of that film Anonymous which was a adaptation of the Authorship Question (aka Shakespeare couldn't have written his own plays because poor people suck at art) the end result was a film that took the conspiracy theory 110% seriously and everyone realizing just how dumb it sounded once said out loud.

The same thing will happen again soon enough with the whole GWGB movement once everyone realize the term woke is meaningless and everyone finds something else to pin all their problems on. Me personally, I would love everyone to blame our issues on Pluto not being a planet anymore as it's entertaining no matter how you slice it.

And yet, those who do not believe that ''Go Woke, Go Broke'' is real will have to find the reasons for the failures of Charlie's Angels, Terminator Dark Fate, Battlefield V, Ghostbusters 2016, The Last of Us 2. All of which have some kind of anti-male agenda within or without from the creators and all attracted enough criticism from men to make significantly less money than they would have done.

And in those films perhaps you are right. Alienate a whole sex is not good for business.

But when any time a POC is in a show, even wholly original and even partially takes up screen time, we hear 'woke'.

Take for example Third Sister in Kenobi. 100% original, she isn't even overpowered Mary Sue. She didn't even take up alot of the screen time overall. Yet she is an example of 'woke'. Or that the kid for Leia gets alot of screen time and heaven forbid she acts like a yound Carrie Fisher.

Then let's talk about Doctor Strange 2. The girl everyone is chasing after has two lesbian Moms. That's woke too. Right? Heaven forbid you show that sort of thing.

Eternals showed that with two men. Nope. Can't have that. That's woke too.
I got nothing to say here.

I haven't seen Dr Strange 2 so I know nothing about the MCU America Chavez... but if her backstory is the same as her comic book counterpart then you need to realise the reason why having two mums is controversial: she LITERALLY has two mums. Not only that, but she is from a universe called the Utopian Parallel which is basically Themyscira on steroids. There are literally no men. And it is a utopia precisely because there are no men. If you have heard the term Comicsgate and wondered what that's about, its because of man-hating bullshit like this.

While we are on the subject, that is also why the lesbian kiss in '''Lightyear'' was controversial. It wasn't the kiss itself, its because, again, they are LITERALLY two lesbian mums. In a film released on FATHER'S DAY of all days. And what made this especially annoying for many parents is that this film was marketed towards kids, and I have read many stories from parents who had to try and explain to their kids how two women get pregnant without a man involved.

You may not agree with my belief that modern media hates men... but can you at least see why people like me think that? When you have ''perfect worlds'' that are portrayed as being perfect because men do not exist? Its quite hard to keep the benefit of the doubt when Disney and Marvel are telling me that the world would be better if I wasn't born.

TRY, just god damn TRY, and say that the world would be perfect without women and have nothing but gay men reproducing with artificial wombs without a single woman involved. You would not get away with that (outside of some obscene Yaoi anyway). If anything, such a world would probably be portrayed in fiction as some warlike hellhole like Apokolips.

Wow, that is a... um... I don't think you realize how this sounds out loud.

Like this comes off as EXTREMELY anti-gay and moral guardian... AND ignores the actual comics because PART of the story with America is her realizing that her own world isn't as perfect as she thought it was and that men aren't evil. I mean I don't much care for the comics myself due to how overly abrasive America was but she did get better as the series went on.

And Lightyear wasn't anti-man either, it just had two women who could have a child and I don't think it covers Same Sex reproduction. And in regards how two women or two men could have a baby... It's a story set in a Sci-Fi/Fantasy setting... They did so using sci-fi science or magic... (Whispering) It's not that big of a deal.

And seriously
And what made this especially annoying for many parents is that this film was marketed towards kids,
You HAD to see this one coming.

Gay parents exist, I don't see how you can hide that reality from kids as they'll find out about that on their own any way, especially when they get old enough to use the internet themselves. As they reach around 10, they will look up this stuff.

And no, Lightyear was not released on Father's Day, Father's Day was the 21st of June, the film was released on the 17th. Also, whoever told you the film was anti-male is a massive liar.

Also, funny the anti-woke crowd use stuff like Lightyear to hype up anime when popular anime like Sailor Moon feature a same sex couple being parents to an adoptive child. (Sailor Moon Crystal is rated to be for audiences in the age 10+ range in Japan)

You're right, but that's not the kind of thing that helps as much as you might think as when you're feeling shit being basically told that your feelings don't matter is a good way to get someone overly defensive and retreat further into the bad places from which it's incredibly hard to get out of.

I've been on other online spaces which I will not name where being male, being straight, being white, all things were synonyms for being BAD, and after awhile it can get to you, as no one wants to be told they're BAD for things they have no control over. Now I'm a total lefty, and I found I was growing to really dislike and resent people who I thought were on my side and that was really beginning to get to me and making me bitter and overly cynical.

Guilt may work for some Catholics and others as a way to promote positive behavior, and many in the online spaces like to wield guilt as a sledgehammer perhaps because of that mindset, but for others it's just going to make them angry, upset, or intensify feelings of depression. This then spirals and can lead to seeking out other angry and upset people, and they can then lead to lashing out at entirely the wrong directions and thus more negativity spreads, and spreads to the point where it is rather hard to extricate oneself from becoming entirely toxic.

I dealt with that myself by going completely clean slate on those spaces, and would strongly advise the same to anyone else going through similar feelings, as constantly exposing yourself to a negative mindset is only going one place, and it's sodding horrible. Focus on other spaces online where such hot button topics are not likely to come up, or if they do, are discussed in a more reasonable fashion, and you'll be much happier for it. No one deserves to be worked up to the point where a film like Lightyear results in a reaction like that. Nothing wrong with being grumpy at the cynical nature of the profit chasing film if you like, it's from a corporation after all and such a spin off is thouroughly scraping the creativity barrel, but all things in moderation y'know?

I'm still a lefty, and it's not like I don't do politics online anymore, I just choose not to discuss them anymore in spaces where the real loony types have entirely taken over.

The sheer fucking hypocrisy of the board's main source of "the world would be better if you were never born" messages coming up with that rant is leaving me speechless.
