Or use the High Republic era they've been putting stuff out for. Haven't read any of it, no idea if it's any good.

To be honest, I think Star Wars has been ruined sufficiently - and not only by Disney, Lucas himself was a major contributor of problems - that it would be best simply to abandon the franchise.

Only way that to happen is for it become unprofitable and we're a long way from that happening anytime soon. Hell I'm amazed they pumped the breaks as much as they did after Solo nose-dived.

As I said, there are always people willing to see something related to Star Wars; but as a source for memorable content that touches people's hearts and minds and changes popular culture, SW is dead.
There are other stories, and other storytellers. Better to pay attention to fresh talent and fresh stories than try to resurrect the corpse.

Nah. Star Wars is far from dead.
What Star Wars really needs is to move on from the Skywalkers and create something new.
As simple as it sounds, all it takes is a good writer and director to revive Star Wars to its near prime numbers in the box office.
They would have to put out some serious garbage movies that makes Rise of Skywalker look like a Shakespearean masterpiece to kill Star Wars.

I got nothing to say here.

I think they did well with mandarlorian until they brought the skywalker back again, and with a vengance in book of boba fett.

I liked Luke coming back but that was my inner fanboy being happy. Not the other side which recognized it was not earned. Basically he rescues everyone and comes out of the blue, or black. There was no build up suggesting him or another showing up. Even if it was a passing comment or something.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 2:24 am I think they did well with mandarlorian until they brought the skywalker back again, and with a vengance in book of boba fett.
It was fan service. I think we all know it. But it was so good.
Mandalorian does have its own issues itself. But it's good outweighs it.
I got nothing to say here.

This is a bit unrelated but DC recently announced that they're making yet another Sequel to Crisis on Infinite Earths which will forever change the status-quo of DC... again. Like there haven't been many sequel to COIE but there has been WAY to many event comics and just about everyone has gotten tired of them.McAvoy wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 2:07 am Nah. Right now Star Wars doesn't have any major big events coming around which I do think is for the better as most fans need a break from what happened in TDST. Right now very little is being done with the Skywalker Clan and anything connecting to them. Oh sure, they've played a overall important role in the series so far but they're mostly secondary characters right now with the focus being more on the supporting cast rather then the Luke, Han or Leia.
I've mentioned before that Star Wars likely is planning something big and that something will likely be tied into the 50th Anniversary of the series in 2027.
Disney and Lucas Film KNOW that it's in hot waters with the fans so they're taking their time and playing the long game and focusing mostly on small screen stuff like TV Shows and Video Games. And, for the most part, it's been doing well. For all my issues with Obi-Wan and Boba Fett both shows were overall well-received by fans and many are looking forward to the 3rd season of The Mandalorian.
That's not a series that's dead that's a series that's doing well if not thriving.

There was a rumor going around a few months ago that there's a movie loosely adapting the Thrawn Trilogy coming as the next big event. My guess is they wait until the Ahsoka series and Mandolorian S3 are done before announcing it if true, same way they did Boba Fette.

I have been hearing that too. Maybe just a fan wish fulfillment.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 6:22 pm There was a rumor going around a few months ago that there's a movie loosely adapting the Thrawn Trilogy coming as the next big event. So are they going to a whole movie with a young CGI faced Luke? Or is he going to be replaced by someone else?
