Which is why the US hasn't gotten involved directly. Restructuring US global military operations would disassemble current US hegemonic conditions in favor of possibly reigniting the Cold War under new terms.
Europe would get involves with the US, Middle East could. China might join with Russia. Japan might end up joining the US and Europe if China joins Russia. Or stay neutral.
