See I like Die Hard 2 as well, I mean the first films of all three series mentioned are all 5* films, and the first sequel to each film is a 4* (ok, Die Hard 2 is more a 3.5) so they're clearly step downs while still being worth a watch.
I can't see Predator 2 as having much to do with the first Terminator at all. Once is a masterfully well done tense stalker techno-thriller while the other is more of a gritty mood piece about how much cities can seriously suck at the height of summer and it seems like everyone is losing their minds in the sweltering heat, also that commuting by train is no one's idea of a good time.
You mean Terminator 3, Alien vs Predator also? Those are 5* movies?
And yeah I guess I forgot about all that melodrama in Predator 2.
No idea how you get that from 'the first films' i.e Terminator, Die Hard, and Predator to mean the third films.
And why not personally I'd say both Terminator 3 and Die Hard 3 are 3*s. T3 mostly being a 2* but I do really like the ending nicely setting the groundwork of how JC could start the fightback.
Some people are really stretching to find something to complain about the Predator prequel Prey, some on social media are really having an issue accepting that Native American tribes actually domesticated dogs at that time, one particularly well known culture war site (refuse to say its name, don't want to give them anymore exposure), in the site's written review trashing the film, complained that Naru's dog looked too "modern", although it looks similar to a Carolina dog that looked similar to a breed of dog that Native American tribes did keep as pets as cited by late nineteenth-century studies of skeletal dog remains found in areas ranging from Alaska to Florida to the Greater Antilles and westward to the Great Plains.

Consistently displaying excellent basic film making ability with establishing shots that set mood, a variety to the environments and threats faced, and most importantly the constant effective use of set up and pay off that allows so much material to be paid off in a crescendo at the end of the movie.
This is what you want in a high concept 90 minute action movie. Get in, get out, get on with life with a smile on your face.
