The Wikipedia article sites a metadata analysis from 2013 for its heritability claim that does not provide sample size of the studies it is analyzing where as the article Thebestoftherest provides is more recent (2016) and actually shows its sample size because its original research. Do you have anything more recent that's actually collecting it's own data rather than trying to analyze existing data?Frustration wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 8:07 pm You don't understand what you're reading. The heritability of IQ holds even when environmental factors like SES are eliminated. The correlation of adopted children's IQ with their adoptive parents' is ZERO. The correlation of their IQ with their biological parents' IQs is roughly standard.
IQ is NOT "almost purely a result of wealth and access to education". If anything, it's the other way around: prosperity is highly linked to IQ, and high-status jobs that pay really well often require a certain amount of IQ. Dummies tend not to do well as doctors or lawyers. You can't give people wealth and education and increase their IQs, and educational opportunities for children can raise their test performance in the short term but has little to no effect on their IQ scores in the long term.
You're peddling blatant lies and ignoring the sources with contradict you.

Ohh, it seems to be a bit both, but it doesn't change Frustration comment that black people aren't smart enough to be doctors from not being racist.

I haven't argued that; such a statement would indeed be racist, and foolishly wrong.

You didn't make a basic claim. This isn't me asking for sources on Flat Earth or If the Moon landing was faked.Frustration wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 7:33 pmIt depends on how basic the claim is. People who don't know, or pretend not to know, things covered in Psych 101 and easily accessible with even casual searches shouldn't be tolerated when they demand sources. Obscure information requires documentation, not rudiments.
Wikipedia's articles on related topics are of limited value because of ideologically-motivated editors using true statements to craft misleading claims, but take a look at the section of "Race and Intelligence" discussing test scores:
Not everyone will be up to date on the intricacies of IQ testing especially when it relates to different races.
What shouldn't be tolerated is people who make claims about something and refuse to provide it.
I got nothing to say here.

Why do you all keep lending this guy's argument legitimacy by engaging with it? His source, obviously, is nothing more than "I want to be super over the top racist." If there were anything more, it would have come out several pages ago.

Lend them legitimacy to who? It's not like this is Twitter, there are like twenty people who will ever see this and most of them posted on the thread already.

Wrong. This is exactly how rudimentary the information in question regarding the specific topic is. It's Psych 101 stuff.
And I'm sure there are people who couldn't explain why the arguments claiming we didn't land on the Moon are nonsense. Nevertheless, the information about that is readily available; people only don't know the facts because they're too lazy to perform a basic search. Not everyone will be up to date on the intricacies of IQ testing especially when it relates to different races.
What shouldn't be tolerated is people too lazy to type a topic into Wikipedia and then demand sources for basic information. What shouldn't be tolerated is people who make claims about something and refuse to provide it.

What we see here is people who aren't willing to address the argument, refuse to even acknowledge facts when they're presented to them, and attack people as racists to avoid having to face conclusions they won't tolerate.
What, in a nutshell, is what 'wokeness' is all about: submission to dominant sociological narratives not only in outer behavior but in inner thought.
