That things have proceeded to this stage tells me that the “we can’t just ignore an issue we normally black bag people over” side of the argument won out, and having started that path at all, the safest way out is to keep moving forward and be as thorough and damning with the facts as possible, in hopes of whittling away his support.

(I don’t worry too much about what happens if this effort fails to dissuade his bootlicks, because the thing with bootlicks is they’re cowards, and they have seen what happens when they decide to actually follow through on his orders and try to fight the government, he throws them under the bus.)
That's the thing. You cannot let Trump get away with these things just because he has a huge following that may or may not rise up in defense of him.

That sets a very dangerous precedent.

This seems like something Trump's lawyers have possibly sudoku'd his way out of at this point. But anything's possible.

From what I have been reading, Trump is certainly guilty of keeping information that he should not have after his term.

Hell, some have argued that having his passports mixed in is for lack of a better term evidence of him willing to keep it. The argument is that having something personal mixed in with such information is a indication of him wanting to keep it.

Now there is an argument that at the time when Trump was leaving office, that it was a shit show. That people grabbed what they could because no one was prepared due to Trump actively fighting the election.

Also there could be the argument that Trump himself didn't do it. And staff did it during this time frame. Which I am sure is possible and probably happened in other presidencies.

One thing I have noticed lately is the lack of memes or articles defending this now. I got enough Trump supporter 'friends' that if there was something to defend, believe me they will.

The focus seems to be the loan forgiveness and Biden's verbal attacks on MAGA supporters now.

I hope he gets the Rosenberg treatment. But that's a lot to hope for.

Yeah most likely he will get a slap on the wrist. No real power to do anything to him.

A judge has granted Donald Trump's demand for a "special master" to oversee the case into his handling of classified materials.

Mr Trump is being investigated for allegedly taking documents with him when he left the White House.

But the "special master" is an independent lawyer who decides if any of the records are covered by attorney-client or executive privilege.

The move is seen as a blow to prosecutors and a win for Mr Trump.

The former president had asked for the special master to be appointed, while prosecutors had strongly opposed it - and the appointment is likely to slow down the justice department's ongoing criminal investigation.

That is because the judge has banned the government from reviewing or using the seized materials for its investigation until the special master's independent review has been completed.

Well that'll last exactly as long as it takes to appeal it to someone who wasn't appointed by Trump.

He's got the supreme court on his side though, doesn't he?

So apparently one of the documents included intelligence on the military and nuclear capabilities of a foreign power.

The reporting doesn't say which of the eightish nuclear powers it was but if he was selling it to the Saudis I'm guessing Israel.
