edit: Reading the blurb and all I can think is that I could have really used that kind of story when I was a teenager. Reading the shit out of this.
I'll admit that I've never connected with a character as much as I do with Danny because many of the things that she's goes over in her head are things that I've said to myself so many times that I actually was in tears in the first couple of pages before I even got to the end of chapter 1. And her joy after changing was something I've wanted to hear in my own life for, well, as long as I can remember. I do feel the book leans a little to much into the angst but I've seen worse in more mainstream superheroes books (I'm looking at you Parker).

I hear it's something to do with the actor, either she's dealing with scheduling conflicts or a pay dispute with Marvel but right now she's not in the MCU which is rather sad as I really liked her and Thor's other Asgard friends.
CharlesPhipps wrote: Fri May 27, 2022 1:46 pm I feel like the LOVE AND THUNDER premise gets rid of the majority of problems of the Jane Foster Thor in the comics like the MCU tends to do.

1. Thor isn't suddenly "unworthy", he has Stormbringer.

2. Jane Foster gets the power of Thor because she has Mjolnir and is worthy, like Captain America. Which I buy just fine.

3. Jane Foster's feminism is less strange when there's more than one female character in the story (Jane Foster in the comics was mostly going it alone).

4. Odin is not representing the patriarchy. If they use Zeus to, well, that just is mythologically accurate.

5. Jane is obviously not using Thor as her name. She's just got his powers.
1: Stormbringer isn't like Mjolnir, anyone can use it as shown in Endgame BUT we already know Thor is still worthy as he was shown wielding Mjolnir in Endgame.

2: I do hope they go into how she got it and how it ties into her cancer.

3: Honestly from what I've seen it's less that there's more then one woman then it is that Thor is 100% onboard with having kickass women on fighting alongside him. Feminism isn't only about being awesome but it's also about men treating you as equals which Thor has been doing since day one.

4: I love how everyone is becoming more aware just how much of a twat Zeus was and if anyone deserves a good brain duster it's that jerk.

5: Well, in the comics they do use Thor in her comics (more accurately Mighty Thor) which is odd because I don't think she's ever called that in the comics themselves. Also the trailer and the posters have all joked about Jane ALSO being Thor so I do think it will be, at the very least, a one off gag in film itself.
1) Wish they made that clearer, so people would shut up about Thanos being worthy or not.

2) I have the feeling that they will just give her the hammer, and not have cancer. It might not jell with tone.

3) That is totally fair, since from what little research I did, some vikings did fight with their women folks.

4) I do wonder if it is possible to do a story with him as anything but a bad guy or an threat nowsadays.

5) That is fair, I think calling her Thunderstrike would be better.

If they're doing the Mighty Thor storyline I wonder if Angela/Aldrif is going to be joining the Guardians in their own next movie? They already blew the "secret sister" story beat on Hela and the Tenth Realm plot was a Thor and Loki teamup that heavily featured the "Loki is a woman when she feels like it" element the MCU chickened out on, but it would be neat.

I feel as if they "chickened out" on Loki's gender swapping only because Tom Hiddleston is such a fan favourite that recasting him would be problematic. I'm sure it'll happen once Tom quits.

I think the fact that if they did that they need to admit that Loki or at least some version is non binary, which they really didn't want.

There's a freeze frame bonus where you see his file and it says gender:fluid. Which is frankly nonsensical with how he reacts to Silvie.

I find it amusing that a social movement that once emphasized respect for individual variation now insists what categories must be placed into and how they are allowed to act and feel.

The mythological Loki was a wild guy... who's known for giving birth to Sleipnir, Odin's eight-legged horse. He probably would sleep with anyone who flattered his vanity. That doesn't prevent Loki from being bisexual or omnisexual if it suits him.

It's out on Disney+ now. It's okay. Not good not bad just okay. Probably won't remember any details in a month.

Other than the one kid who changed their name to Axl, but that's just because I know someone who actually did that.

Deleted scene with Thor and Zeus...being chummy, with Zeus actually mentoring Thor and supporting him on his mission.

Implies an almost totally different second arc and the script had some serious rewrites all by itself (also, Zeus is much stronger and definitely isn't reliant on his thunderbolt, because he can make thunderbolts from anything).

Skipped this movie when it was in the theaters. Just wasn't feeling it.

I will watch it eventually.
I got nothing to say here.
