If he isn't, I wonder what changed his mind.
I wonder if the fact that we now have a Prince George changed his mind? Its worth noting that Elizabeth was her actual name too so she did start the tradition of not changing your name. Apparently she didn't see the point.

Very few British monarchs changed their name upon ascending the throne since George I. It's basically just Victoria, Edward VII, and George VI. Victoria didn't like her first name, Edward wanted to avoid King Albert because of his father (Prince Albert), and George wanted to promote continuity / possibly avoid King Albert.

Between Prince George and Charles being very old, I suppose he might think changing his name will confuse things.

Going to take a long time to filter out the old notes and coins for King Charles.
I was thinking about this today. I really, really, do not want to jinx this, but King Charles is an old man. We'll change all of the money and stamps and then have King William.
OK the reasons were different but they never even got around to issuing Edward VIII coins, just a few proofs (so they're worth a lot to collectors).

Or he just went with what the media and public started calling him since the first moment the Queen was known to be dead. On the other hand, was he formally enthroned/crowned already? He may still change his name.

When the Queen's death was announced, or shortly afterwards, it was also announced that he will be known as Charles III.

He hasn't been formally crowned yet, but the decision has already been made.

So the Queen dies, Charles becomes the new Queen, William becomes the new heir apparent, and so on. Am I imagining things or is this the same way the mirror universe Enterprise works?

No, that's how monarchies from more archaic human societies functioned.

Well the difference is that is people knew that Charles killed the queen the other institutions (parliament, the courts) would try to remove King Charles, and not just go along with it.

I wouldn't look to Charles as the culprit. Because after all...
