Other than the one kid who changed their name to Axl, but that's just because I know someone who actually did that.
Skipped this movie when it was in the theaters. Just wasn't feeling it.

Heard that it has tooany jokes. My cousin texted me tonight saying the same thing.

I will watch it eventually.
It wasn't just that there are a lot of jokes, it's that it's very clearly a kid's movie. I mean all the Marvel stuff is family friendly and harmless, but I think the target audience for this is about ten.

I probably will end up watching it sometime this week.

There are a few scenes where i think if they play it a bit more straight without so many jokes it would work better.

Overall review vibe I'm getting is "lukewarm, flawed by the MCU hesitation to take itself seriously". That about right?

Finally saw it last night. Yeah I can definitely see that it should have toned down the comedy.

So apparently Thor's axe has some sort of sentience and possibly gets jealous when Thor flirts with his old hammer and Zues's thunderbolt. Thor talks to his weapons too like old friends which he never did. It is implied that when Thor (while dating Jane) told the hammer to protect Jane it got enchanted into the hammer.

Thor in the end channeling his inner Odin to enchant the kid's makeshift weapons into mini Thors is a nice touch. The stuffed bunny part was pretty obvious.

I do wish there was more of a lead up showing that Thor realizing he can do that.

So the big Villian is out to kill all gods and needs Stormbreaker to gain access to Infinity where wishes are granted or something. Implied that he plans on wishing all gods to be dead or something. His motivation to go there is murky. And seeing how the other gods are, like who cares. At this point you are more worried only about Thor. Is Valkryie considered a god? Jane?

Alot of emphasis on Valhalla too. Which turns out to be real in the end.
I got nothing to say here.

I do think it's a very odd film, in that yes so much of the runtime the target audience is in the 8-12 age bracket for about 80%, but it's also this other 10% about accepting death, the futility of religion, and a very shapely naked male butt that has to then coexist with the other stuff. Also it's very odd that both this and Wreck it Ralph 2 seem to think that incredibly short lived annoying goats fad is the thing to refference to be down with the kids and their youtubes.

Then it did have the power sharing scene which was genuinely kind of amazing, and a better last fight than the one in Ragnarok so not a total waste of time giving it a watch despite being incredibly late to the film.

It's basically an adaptation of Gorr's plotline without any of the actual religious elements being questioned, which is kind of dumbing it down really. Thor is a god actually worth worshiping in the comics basically while the one in the movie is still an enormous goofball.

"Everyone loved the comedy in Ragnarok, let's multiply that by a factor of ten!"

Everyone remember all of the jokes in that scene where Odin dies after he tells Thor and Loki he loves them. Remember all of the jokes when Hela appeared afterwards? So much laughter right?
