Why?
Because if they want to set it in "our" world, then it would be the single most defining event of human history and brought up constantly, effecting everyone's life, choices, and materials. Everything from religion to personal relationships.

And the world would be NOTHING like ours.

The whole concept of it being our world went out the window long ago.

26 movies and many TV series all for the most part interconnected pretty makes it entirely seperate from our own.
I got nothing to say here.

Or maybe they deliberately took more inspiration from the Byrne-era She-Hulk, rather than some more modern interpretations.

What modern interpretations? Her muscle size was pretty big even in the 80's. She was never protrayed as muscled close to even female bodybuilders but she has muscle definition.
I got nothing to say here.

Please name me one thing prior to the snap that convinced you the MCU is set in our world. And why the introduction of the multiverse hasn't convinced you yet why it isn't.

My theory - and it is just a theory - is that even though Disney is very much ''grrr I am woman hear me roar'' in public nowadays, behind the scenes they are also scared of losing the very lucrative ''sex sells'' market. And generally, men and lesbians are not interested in ''Hulk Hogan'' type women, and women are not interested in becoming ''Hulk Hogan'' type women. Abby from ''The Last of Us'' should have ended that idea.

DC were the same. Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is a stick compared to many of her portrayals.

The MCU is a universe that's just like our world, unless otherwise noted. Consider the rise of social media and smartphones since 2006 for example. That's been keeping pace at about the same rate. Changes are kept to a minimum.

For example, consider everything that would change following the first movie, Iron Man. Even if he didn't want to sell the suits wholesale to the US army, he has a tiny generator of apparently unlimited clean free energy. They could have taken nearly every gas guzzler off the road by 2016 through attrition. But they didn't, because the point is to keep everything the same enough so the world's recognizable.

It's the same deal with the snap. The more you acknowledge the snap, the more you're drawing attention to the fact the snap changed nothing.

The eternal stasis of the comic-book-world. The greatest contributor to modern-day media-perception and media-shaping. Fuck that.

Really makes it all seem kind of pointless when put like that. The eternal status quo.

And if a change does stick the universe gets regularly rebooted anyway.
...for space is wide, and good friends are too few.
