If the war does go Nuclear then it is going to be bombs in the air, not boots on the ground.clearspira wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 9:03 am If this war does turn nuclear I think my country would regret conscripting me. I might just beat Harry Kim for the world's least promoted soldier.
On a more serious note, I plan to be underneath the bomb when it goes off. I enjoy my 21st century life of conveniences and plenty too much.

Then you get a grinding generational infantry war through the irradiated wasteland over the remaining resources.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 4:43 pmIf the war does go Nuclear then it is going to be bombs in the air, not boots on the ground.clearspira wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 9:03 am If this war does turn nuclear I think my country would regret conscripting me. As often as I've heard Europeans complain about Americans having opinions about things they know nothing about, I've also encountered Europeans with opinions about American things that they think they know because they've seen them on TV or in movies.
The US doesn't have only one culture - there are at least five distinct regions, depending on who you ask. And then there is the cultural divide between urban and rural areas, which tends to be more severe than the differences between regions. There's no place on Earth where culture is simple and uncomplicated, I grant you. But TV and movies tend to be dominated by small subgroups of limited regional cultures and don't reflect the places they're supposedly displaying, and they certainly don't represent the US as a whole.

That definitely goes both ways. Britain has some of the greatest regional deviation in the world. Ten miles is all that it takes to completely change the English spoken word, as in, whole terms acquire new meanings. ''Dinner'' for example is any meal of the day depending on where you happen to be standing.Frustration wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 7:51 pm As often as I've heard Europeans complain about Americans having opinions about things they know nothing about, I've also encountered Europeans with opinions about American things that they think they know because they've seen them on TV or in movies.

Basically, we ain't just London, Downton Abbey is in the past, and God knows why you insist on giving us that stupid accent in everything you set in England. You know the one... that one that you gave Rene Zellweger in Bridget Jones's Dairy, where we go ''oye'' and ''mate'' a lot, and is so crusty we might as well have just walked off the Raj.

Not to begin with. But Russia cannot possibly win a nuclear war against NATO. It has 30 targets, we have 1. We have yet to spill a single drop of our own blood, Russia is down by literally thousands of men. Pyrrhic victory as it may be, there is no conceivable way the West could lose WW3.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 4:43 pmIf the war does go Nuclear then it is going to be bombs in the air, not boots on the ground.clearspira wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 9:03 am If this war does turn nuclear I think my country would regret conscripting me. Sooner or later, there will be some kind of counter-attack where I will be expected to die on foreign soil, or worse, kill some stranger who has never done anything to me and probably doesn't want to be there either.

Honestly with how degraded the rest of their military is compared to what everyone thought they had I'm actually a bit skeptical they still have second strike capabilities.Draco Dracul wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 5:10 pmMy dude everyone loses WW3. Yep. That's the thing about nuclear war. Anyone who thinks it's possible to win in any way, shape or form is a dangerous idiot.Draco Dracul wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 5:10 pmMy dude everyone loses WW3. What's really, really scaring me is that Putin appears to be a dangerous idiot.

As crap as they are it would still be very surprising indeed if they didn't have enough that sort of worked to usher along global armaggedon.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 5:28 pmHonestly with how degraded the rest of their military is compared to what everyone thought they had I'm actually a bit skeptical they still have second strike capabilities.Draco Dracul wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 5:10 pmMy dude everyone loses WW3. The scary thing is that Russia is run by a deluded fool who thinks that if he ups the stakes and acts more vile than anyone else others will give way to him because he's Mr Hard and no-one else will stand up to him in the end. I said years ago that he was the biggest threat to the world, but some twats were still taken in by the Mr Tough pathetic nonsense. And now look where we are with that. Someone please tip that knuckledragging thug out of a window before he get us all killed.

Mao disagreed and said China and therefore Socialism would survive.
#Trivia.
At this point, Putin probably fears that any nukes he fires will be defective and will explode in their own silos.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 5:28 pmHonestly with how degraded the rest of their military is compared to what everyone thought they had I'm actually a bit skeptical they still have second strike capabilities.Draco Dracul wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 5:10 pmMy dude everyone loses WW3.
