I sometimes wonder, what was first. The cultural stasis stemming from media or media just reflecting the cultural stasis so many people crave for (not that I am entirely free of guilt in this regard)? Probably both in equal measures.

Status quo storytelling is definitely not a new thing. There is a discussion over on the Gravity review about how the mainstream populace likes their media to be dumbed down and I think this is part of that.

But I do think it is getting worse and I think a lot of it can be blamed on today's disposable ''everything is on hand'' culture where people just want to consume things and move onto the next thing without looking back. You can't do that if something requires thinking. Look at video games. One of my favourite series is Final Fantasy, and if you go and buy the Remasters of Final Fantasy 7 through 9 on the PS4, they now come with inbuilt cheats to basically remove all difficulty, grinding and effort.

Or maybe they deliberately took more inspiration from the Byrne-era She-Hulk, rather than some more modern interpretations.
What modern interpretations? Her muscle size was pretty big even in the 80's. She was never protrayed as muscled close to even female bodybuilders but she has muscle definition.
My theory - and it is just a theory - is that even though Disney is very much ''grrr I am woman hear me roar'' in public nowadays, behind the scenes they are also scared of losing the very lucrative ''sex sells'' market. And generally, men and lesbians are not interested in ''Hulk Hogan'' type women, and women are not interested in becoming ''Hulk Hogan'' type women. Abby from ''The Last of Us'' should have ended that idea.

DC were the same. Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is a stick compared to many of her portrayals.
Here is the thing. She Hulk isn't that big. She isn't really even built like a female bodybuilder. She is I would say a a few levels below that.

Keep in mind, She Hulk was drawn a certain way to attract readers. She ain't Hulk big but she isn't just a slight muscular green woman type she is in the show.
I got nothing to say here.

She looks a lot more built to me in the scenes from the pilot where she transformed because she actually lost control of her anger than when she does it voluntarily, but the animation is so inconsistent I have no idea if that's supposed to be an in-universe thing.

So I gotta say... I did like this show to begin with, now its boring the pants off me. Every episode is just kind of blending into one. Nothing to do with ''woke'' this time, its just bland. Its neither a legal drama nor a superhero series. The story doesn't feel like its building to anything worth the wait.

It occurred to me what I was watching.

A chick flick. Or that's what it seems to me.

Just seems like a standard sitcom to me. No stakes, no meaningful arc, just some stuff that happened.

Which is fine, I guess. Makes you wonder who this is aimed at though. Can't imagine too many fans of ''Bridesmaids'' or ''Bridget Jones's Dairy'' were crying out for an entry in the MCU. Pity. It could have been so much more. A legal show that deals with things like the Sarkovia Accords or the Snap or just relations between superheroes could have been great. Does anyone else remember ''Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law''?

Which also speaks volumes about the general problem with the MCU nowadays. Part of the magic (and naturally, an inspired business decision) of the MCU throughout Phases 1 through 3 was the idea that you couldn't miss a single film, that every part was building towards ''Endgame.'' You don't get that feeling with Phase 4 and it is to the MCU's detriment.
