So we are watching a character navigate her personal life as a celebrity super hero. And no one cares about her human self. It does feel like a sitcom.

The arc of the unholy lovechild of a redpill forum and Kiwi Farms trying to destroy her life for no particular reason is honestly making the latest episode it a bit too realistic for my taste.

Did like their version of Daredevil and that whole story, that was fun. Then everything after "shouldn't this episode be over"? sucked all the air out of the room.

Have hate groups launched a campaign against the show? Probably.
But I also find "review bombing" to be a very convenient excuse and is now "default excuse number 1" to explain away bad ratings. Ultimately, they are not a very large group of people. And from what I've seen of this actress of Twitter, she has not been quick to take any accountability. I think she thinks this is a work of art.

Those masks are definitely inspired by Doomcock. A bad move if that move was to insult him as he'll think of it as a badge of honour and just strengthens his appeal.

Ultimately, they are not a very large group of people.

To be fair, not many people rate all the media they watch, so a small group can have an outsized effect.

If they already had shots prepared against The Usual Suspects using their normal talking points when they were writing this two years ago or so, then it's a pretty safe bet that whole demographic was already written off in the pitch meeting.

Like you said, not enough of them for Disney to care about.

Anecdotally just from people I know it's the first Marvel property to really grab the "50+ geek women" demographic since the X-Men trilogy. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Tbh... I have to agree with you. The first time through I was definitely like ''Doomcock!'' but watching it again with what you said in mind, they could just be a spooky gang. They could even be Dr Who villains.
That changes the effect of the scene in my mind from ''salty burn'' to ''they have no idea who Doomcock is'' which is also pretty funny.

I also prefer to think of it your way as I really do not want this to be the norm. Disney shouldn't be rising to the bait of niche Youtubers as no good comes of it and it just looks unprofessional. Especially as Doomcock in particular is chief Fandom Menace, and going after him kind of makes it look like he was right about one of your biggest franchises.
