What expectation is there he can pay that fine?

Is the amount being increased merely to make a statement, or could he actually pony up that much money?

If anything probably a statement to show people "this is what happens when you go too far on some things."

Like sentencing a criminal to life plus eight hundred years.

Just another rambling madman, begging for money on the sidewalk. It's what he's always been.

Like most things about Alex Jones, his finances are shady as fuck. His estimated wealth stands at $130-$270 million. Most of that money is from Infowars which is apparently worth $70 million a year. The courts have reasonable evidence to believe that he has a network of shell companies where he has been ferreting a lot of that money away.

As CNN notes though, lets say that on appeal he knocks that fine down by 75%. That is still basically everything that he (transparently) owns. He is coming away from this poorer. Connecticut seems to be far less forgiving than Texas at the moment.

I suspect that amount was given full knowing that the amount could be reduced by a settlement or appeal or something.

Granted I am no lawyer so who really knows how he is expected to pay for this. Is he going to be docked every pay check until he finally pays that one billion?
I got nothing to say here.

So how does it break down to a billion dollars anyway? Legally is it just the fact that saying it's a hoax is offensive, or do they detail social damages what not?
..What mirror universe?

I assume there will be a payment plan if that billion dollars is serious. Like 20 years 50 million a year sort of thing. Or a down payment of let's say 200 million and 20 years and 40 million a year.

But I think the amount was given full knowing that it will get reduced to a more manageable amount for him to pay.
I got nothing to say here.

The jury found him liable for 120 million to one family, 50 million to another family, so on down the line depending on what he did to them. It adds up because there are a lot of them.
