Very much this but even more so when it gets dubbed 'filler'.

I still remember how shocking it was when the DS9 Occupation Arc lasted a whole seven episodes instead of being resolved in the season opener.

That was an episode that shouldn't have worked at all, but somehow did anyway. At least for me. The title was even part of the con, which I appreciate.

I think the fact that the extreme abrasiveness and terrible humor was coming from an appropriate source rather than intra-officer on a Starfleet ship made it land and gave them a lot more latitude for the kinds of things they could have her do.

The continuity with the Daystrom Supercomputer storage was smart. It works well as both a solid callback and a potential sequel if they decide to take it that way. I do question the wisdom of keeping so many dangerous, malicious intelligences in a room together and able to communicate, but it also feels like exactly the sort of subversive humor the show's going for with these villains; they'll plot, get out, start to enact a plan, and then discover to their dismay that it's unsuccessful because... Starfleet records the audio in the room and knew exactly what was going on. Whoops! At least, this season seems to be leaning more heavily on using competence as the punchline to the usual tropes and I'm enjoying that quite a bit.

In the end, the show felt like it was smartly poking fun at some of the dumber ideas from season 1, and I'm on board with that. I like that it's willing to engage with itself and do something pretty unique in the process.

Weirdly, I've got to say the thing that occurs to me most about CRISIS POINT II is the fact that it is REALLY mean spirited to the franchise in a way Lower Decks usually isn't. They made fun of a lot of past Treks in ways they normally don't like the V'Ger reveal and the Kelvinverse.

It didn't come across as mean-spirited to me, and overall I found this another really enjoyable episode. I didn't spot a nod to STIII though, even though all the other TOS-era films were referred to. Any pointers? Loved what they did with the music.

I admit I'm disappointed we didn't get to see the Triplets try to seduce Boimler as he undoubtedly programmed them to be.

As others have noted I'm definitely hoping for the Cardassian Quadruplets if they dicide to do Crisis Point 3.

I hope to also have a star system sized Peanut Hamper as the villain.

Kinda hoping that Peanut Hamper and Argimus combine to create a monster out of all the other imprisoned supercomputers, cause I like the idea of Fletcher's monster but I don't care to see Fletcher himself ever again. Also, twould seem Boimler's transporter clone was evil after all, judging by his laughter at the end of the show.
