The failure rate of semiconductors shipped from China to Russia has increased by 1,900 percent in recent months, according to Russian national business daily Коммерсантъ (Kommersant).
Quoting an anonymous source, Kommersant states that before Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine the defect rate in imported silicon was two percent. Since that war commenced, Russian manufacturers have apparently faced 40 percent failure rates.
[...]
Granted, Kommersant has reason to overstate failure rates, but even if it's anywhere north of 10%, it's a catastrophe and it's telling a story of how desperate Russia is to get any chips at all, as they clearly are going even to the most dubious sources.

And you don't think Putin's a Russian nationalist retard with severe NATO paranoia?
The matter of him operating in the kgb then surfacing back as the leader in the global post Cold War age…
I think he knows more about nato then the people that run it.
He's spectacularly mis-judged and mis-understood everyone else this year. I think it's pretty clear that he didn't expect much more of a response to the invasion than a bit of token equipment to Ukraine and some finger-wagging after a quick Russian victory, with everyone else being too busy arguing amongst themselves to bother him. He's giving the distinct impression of a man who believes that reality is whatever he thinks it is and won't tolerate hearing anything that might suggest otherwise. Whatever he might've once known is out of date and in any case gets in the way of his ego.

If Ukraine had rolled over with barely a fight like everyone expected them to that's probably exactly what would have happened.
...for space is wide, and good friends are too few.
Putin expected a reaction like 2014 when Ukraine seemed to roll over and the rest of the world reacted very poorly with Obama following his doctrine of trying to fight the wars America was already involved in without expanding conflicts.
He also has spent trillions of Russia's oil revenues trying to modernize the military and it only became obvious in retrospect that ALL of that was wasted due to the sheer amount of corruption and cronyism involved.

There have been continual misjudgments since too, the insistence on continuing to push on anyway instead of cutting his losses, possibly piling forces in to a small area and just holding on to that (which would've been very difficult to do anything about even with the Russian military performing poorly). Instead we get atrocities presumably designed to make people cave but which instead just harden determination, and threats seemingly designed to drag the entire world down with him, presumably a foolhardy, desperate and unbelievably irresponsible attempt to convince the world that leaving Russia to get on with it is a lesser evil.
These are not signs of an intelligent person in control of the situation.
So it seems Iran were responsible for selling the suicide drones to Russia. Rumour is that Israel - AKA mortal enemy of Iran - is now thinking about arming the Ukrainians in response.
BTW, the last person in Europe to use a weapon similar to the suicide drone? Hitler in WW2 with the V-1 rocket. Just leaving that there.

Even Hitler upgraded to real missiles at the first opportunity. Russia's budget must be even worse than we thought.

If Russia had successfully invaded Ukraine, there would have been little anyone could do other than finger-waggle, and possibly cut off gas purchases - although given how Europe's citizens have been moaning about that, it seems relatively unlikely to happen in this hypothetical alternate universe.
If people aren't willing to start a war with Russia for fear of nuclear escalation, there aren't a whole lot of meaningful options. The key was in Ukraine's refusal to take this lying down.
