I felt it was more of a b-plot amongst other b-plots. The focus of the episode seemed to be more about 4th wall breaking and reflective breakdown of superhero convention.

I think when they are the biggest presence of antagonists against her and you focus several episode plots building up to this confrontation and make a big dumb point about the ending being this when Jenn needs to have KEVIN make her a good lawyer to win when she's been a REALLY BAD LAWYER, it doesn't fill me with confidence that you're breaking superhero conventions when its clear you suck at them.

Breaking down*. Not breaking conventions or being profound. Deconstruction is just more of a delta or change. She was opting for the resolution to not be servicing action tropes, in generally unsavory fashion no less. The theme of putting Matt Murdock in there just shows the direction of where they're taking the show while the show also effectively satirizes conventions established by comic entertainment.

It does say a lot about this ''superhero'' series though that the most memorable villain in it was ''Twitter.''

Yeah I don’t think it’s supposed to run a conventional format.

Kind of an odd choice for mini-series length seasons, but it’s hardly the only superhero show that’s not supposed to be direct hero/villain plot.
