I'm guessing it'll have a very clear generational divide with younger people considering it a classic and the rest of us still complaining about how stupid the Burn is.

It's been successful enough that they keep greenlighting more shows and more seasons.

I think the finale really shows how Mariner has grown and that she was willing to be the bigger person and go all "well it makes sense you believed it because that's who I used to be". I do wonder what they're going to do with Tendi moving forward because she seems like the least-developed of the main 4.

Streaming era Trek exists in an interesting space, because simultaneously I expect fewer people are seeing it than saw TNG in its heyday and that it's more secure in its place on Paramount+ than TNG ever was. Trek is far and away the most successful draw for the service, something that premiers and stays on Paramount+, and everything else they've tried so far to give a similar budget and marketing push just hasn't measured up (see also: the Halo series). While Paramount has some other money-makers, all of it is stuff that's still trying to share a home with cable still because it's subcontracted through Nickelodeon and kid-oriented shows are still getting a lot of their money off those advertising deals, so Paramount+ can't be prioritized for Spongebob or new Transformers shows like Trek is.

So yeah Paramount is trying to juggle it's budget such that it can always have enough Trek in production to keep a new episode premiering every week, or at least close enough to every week that it's impractical for people to cancel their service for months on end between the one show they care about airing (ala Game of Thrones on HBO), and it doesn't look like they've got any other properties (new or franchise based) that can share that load coming around anytime soon.

I very much agree. Star Trek is currently squaring the circle, so to say. It's both successful and a failure compared to prior Trek.

DISCOVERY also technically escaped being streaming Trek alone as well. Due to Covid and writers issues, it did air on CBS practical television for a bit. Not to mention science fiction networks in other countries.

I don't know. Maybe 20 years. Ten years didn't really change much for ENT or Voyager even when we had Abrams Trek.

20 years since Enterprise premiered it does seem the fanbase has simmered down on the show. Usually during these time periods we end up getting more background information on why the show did the things it did.

I think that ENT and Voyager got reevaluated when people started hating on DISCO instead.
